Depressed in Ireland

In tonight's Podcast Fr. Luke addresses the issue of mental health and #depression - It has been something that has sadly been reoccurring in many circles here in Ireland. Obviously it is a universal problem that only has its answer in the person of Jesus Christ.

I suffer from anxiety and depression for years, I've tried antidepressants and counselling, learned some tools to help. The only thing that actually helps me is sitting in Church quietly with Jesus. I say my prayers. But it's something I have to live with and I surrender it to God. Viva Cristo Rey 🙏

@@thet1375 I think that was the hardest part for me, realising it was never going away. Like you, I fought so hard to overcome it, the day the doctor told me I'd suffer from it my whole life, I cried the whole way home. So now I try to appreciate the good days. I'm so grateful for my faith because honestly I wouldn't be able to cope without Gods help. I suffer it up to Jesus on the Cross now and ask for some good to come of it, I usually ask for people's conversion or for a Holy soul. I hope you are doing ok, I'll pray for you. I'll gladly carry my Cross behind Jesus, it's just sometimes gets too much, then I surrender to it, I say the surrender novena. God bless you T 🙏

That was my experience when i was out drinking and clubbing. Looked happy on the outside but dying on the inside. Jesus Christ is the only one that can fill the emptiness. True peace. "Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." St .Augustine.

I'm really struggling at the moment. I want to stay in bed, I'm struggling to get washed and dressed, went to Dr taking medication but can't motivate myself, nap on lunch break. My husband thinks I should try to walk more, join something and talk to someone about it. Today have a play date in our house for our toddler and I want to cancel but don't want my issues to impact him. I have loved wfh and now they are doing phased return to work and I'm dreading it. I've also being questioning my faith and not sure I believe what I once did before. As a Christian I once thought Jesus was returning and part of me is disappointed that the world is still spinning and He hasn't returned. I think I'm crazy now and questioning what I believe.
