I didn’t want to be a priest either . I had other ideas but our blessed mother carried me kicking and screaming into a conversion and then a vocation after years of addiction. 5 years into seminary I smile now and say “yup blessed mammy , you always know best” 😄 Thanks Fr Luke great talks ! God bless yer work

Five years in - you're almost there!! Very nice. And especially congrats on overcoming addiction! Same here... I experienced some rather strong demonic attacks on my way out of it all. Literal - growling, laughing, hovering presences. Awful. But what a respite I have found in the Rosary and Divine Offices. Blessings to you!

A powerful and intimate testimony of a man of God madly in love with Jesus and our Blessed Mother. Such a beautiful soul and also an inspiration... Thanks dear God for the gift of his priesthood, not only for Ireland but for all those who can discover You hidden inside his heart. Bless him abundantly.

Thank you for all these live streams... I discovered your channel here about a month ago. In every video, there is always at least one part that makes me feel all teary and choked up... This time it was about the children throwing flower petals while you processed through with the Blessed Sacrament. I grew up Protestant (Seventh-day Adventist) and discovered Catholicism when I was 16. Went through RCIA at 18. Now almost 30... I've had a tumultuous life, but know that Almighty God has used everything to refine me and grow the garden of His will amidst the rubble. I've often felt called. As a child, I thought I wanted to be an Adventist pastor. Then when I discovered Catholicism, a priest (even before going through RCIA!). I have researched and mildly discerned on my own several times over the years. Finally about a year ago, spoke regularly with a spiritual director who was referred to me - a very kind Benedictine priest - but I don't think that was a very good match. So I backed off, and so did he. How strongly I hear the Father's call ebbs and flows. Of course there is fear and doubt, disapproval of myself, disappointment in much of the Church hierarchy... I am an organist, conductor and liturgist - have always and only worked for the Church - so He keeps me near. People always assume I am a seminarian. I guess we'll see...

I found this testimony deeply moving and it helped me in many ways. That said, I want to say that I was taken aback by the "Women are a dime a dozen" comment. I found it hurtful and unnecessary. The comment seems to reflect a time in Father Demasi's life when women were seen and treated like drugs or alcohol, used as a substance to fill the void. This is a type of objectification surely, which one would hope Father Demasi has now left behind him. This attitude does not reflect the reality of women (created and loved by God), but a jaundiced view of them. Women, as human beings, were made in the image and likeness of God. It could also be argued that men are a dime a dozen in the lives of women, compared to the reality of knowing Christ. However, we are are supposed to love and value each other, so neither attitude seems like a good idea. Also, on the topic of priesthood and the consecration, the first person to bring God into the world as human flesh was a woman, as we know... That is a separate issue, but it feels like it is important to be mindful of this Truth in the context of the value of women in the eyes of God.

I agree with what you have said totally . And I also think that comment about women was unnecessary, and disrespectful .I liked this testimony , but that comment about women just hit me. I scrolled down the comments to see if someone have noticed that.

So great Father Luke! I love what Father Colum said to you about 'natural' vocation and 'supernatural' vocation! More men need to hear about the beauty of the priesthood. And I feel in a sense that your last statement about a woman can never fill your needs (or something like that) is true in marriage as well, because if we think the other person will totally fill us without having a complete dependence on Christ... we're in deep trouble.

Fr. Luke I have been so intrigued by you. I have never heard of a Priest opening up before like you have. I am sure both of your Mothers are so proud of you as I am. I just wish that some of the things that the younger kids would sit down and watch this video instead of the Filth and wrong doings that they’re watching. I know how hard it is to make a decision as I had to many years ago .That he was of a different religion from me as a Catholic. So after a i lot of conversations with him I decided to move to another country. I met a good guy there ,got married and I have two wonderful children and grandchildren.. I am now 75yrs old and he had a very unhappy marriage and he died five years ago of motor neurone disease .Please pray for me and my family.I have numerous health problems I’ll pray for you every day as I feel as if I know you already .May God and his Blessed Mother Pray for you . Kind Regards. Teresa Mcgauley. By the way Sr.Clare RIP. lived in Derry Ni.Ireland about 45 minutes from me .

Are those words in your heart that were clear but not heard, that you have trouble describing - is it what you could call an “understanding” of certain words? I’ve had that a few times in my life. I really felt it was The Lord speaking to me.
