The reason the bullpens were moved at oracle is because back in 2018 Giants outfielder Mac Williamson tripped over the mound and received a serious concussion that ended his career. He went on to sue the Giants over it, so they moved them to center field. But if you think about it, you cant put them in right field and you’d have to break apart the bleachers in left, which would be disasterous. Center field was the only place to put them. My gripe is that the got rid of triples alley. That actually hurt the giants. The discovered their model for winning during their dynasty: gap to gap timely hitting and great pitching. Taking away those game changing line drives created less offensive opportunities, not more. There are far more gappers hit than home runs to right center. They could have put the bullpens where the gardens are and moved the gardens elsewhere or just got rid of them.

Me personally. I hate everything about Left Field at Minute Maid Park. The high school dimensions and the confusing section where you can hardly tell the difference between a homer and a double. Also in most stadiums there’s almost zero room between the stands and the foul lines. That’s created too many opportunities for fan interference and potentially Dangerous situations. Now you have to look through a net because it was leading to fans getting smacked in the face with a baseball. I also think that all the 8 foot walls should be more like 9 feet high in order to reduce ground rule doubles and still allow an athletic outfielder to rob a home run

A few comments on the commentary: Miami: Of course the columns (they are columns. Columns are vertical, girders are horizontal, beams generally frame into girders) could have been out of seating area. That increases the span of the roof trusses, which adds steel weight which costs more. Baltimore: Eventually an inner lower fence will be added and probably some premium seating added. San Francisco: Bullpens in foul territory are always a terrible idea but the centerfield renovation was poorly done. Toronto: You nailed it. The exterior of the hotel looks cheap and it would not have cost much more to have changed the enclosure. Phoenix: Completely correct: neglected space, badly designed. Houston:: The structure supporting the curtainwall (not windows) is necessary and is actually pretty minimal.

The reason the Metrodome had a blank wall was because it was not originally intended to house the Twins, so when the Twins decided to join the Vikings in the Metrodome the bottom levels were mostly constructed, and they had to shove the field as far as they could into the corner to meet minimum dimensions for MLB stadiums.

It's no secret amongst my friends and family but the one thing I really, really hate about all stadiums and events is when they have what I have come to label as "Corporate Naming Rights Johns." In this case, johns = one half of the transaction that is called The World's Oldest Profession. To me, on a basic level, I don't like to be thought of as buying some chips because the brand decided to be john for a college football bowl game. Next is when reporters write about the events that take place in a joint with such a name, the story starts looking like an advertisement for said john. And these days the ncaa created brand new bowl games out of whole cloth just to sell the naming rights. Here in New York City have a stadium that has a bank's name plastered on it. At least we still have the Yankee name on their stadium. Boston has Fenway Park. As I understand it, Wrigley Field was for the gum folks. As I stopped caring about the Mets after the 1994 strike, I haven't really paid attention to every single new stadium that has come out, so a question: besides the 3 I mentioned, are there any other baseball stadiums that have old-fashioned names and not the names of johns who paid to name them. And here's something to think about w/r/t naming rights: How do all the johns measure the ROI of said deals? When you open a checking account at that bank whose name is on the stadium in Queens, if they ask why you chose them, do you say, "Well, I love the fact that you are the name of the stadium"? So, how does the bank justify spending the $20 Million per year? It's not like a cookie company puts out dollar-off coupons for their chocolate chip cookies and can then measure the returns of said coupons.
