Where exactly is the available land in Queens to build an NFL stadium? The approved NYCFC stadium is getting affordable housing built around it. If approved the Mets parking lots would be cluttered with a casino, garages, and a park. Land is scarce The Jets already heavily invested in their training facilities in NJ. MetLife Stadium is getting a natural grass field for the world cup. The stadium itself is plain but the location really is perfect near several highways + public transit. Fans would not be happy about buying another PSL after 20 years.

Where would the Jets stadium go in Flushing/Corona Park? Steve Cohen already has plans to build a hotel + casino next to Citi Field. Plus, NYCFC already started building their stadium. Would Cohen abandon his plans for a Jets stadium? By the way, it seems a little excessive to have a NFL Stadium (80k cap), MLB Stadium (45k cap), MLS stadium (25k cap), and US Open/Tennis (24k cap) all in the same area. I know we’re deviating further from multi purpose stadiums and more towards experiences but this appears wild.

MetLife Stadium is the worst stadium in the NFL, Its the worst stadium in the tri state area and maybe the worst stadium in sports. It has absolutely no soul whatsoever. There's no personality to it at all. Just metal, concrete and ads. There's nothing special about watching a game there. I would much rather go to Queens to watch the games. The actual cost of the MetLife stadium at the time of it opened was $1.6 billion. This made the stadium the most expensive stadium ever built at that time. How is it that these brand-new "state-of-the-art" stadiums become so obsolete in a short amount of time?
@NimbusBrain8 ай бұрын
"Obsolete" has nothing to do with the shortcomings of the stadium. The biggest problem is a design flaw regarding the escalators. They should, as with the old stadium, be dedicated by level - one for the upper bowl, one for the middle, one for the lower. Instead, the escalators serve all levels. If you are in the upper bowl, you get on the escalator, get off, then walk to the next escalator, which serves a lower bowl and repeat the process. This causes desperate overcrowding as all the lower bowls merge with the crowd from the upper bowls. This has to be managed by throttling access to the escalators, forcing people to use the stairs, which are not friendly to the elderly or physically challenged. The escalators will become extremely dangerous if overloaded, because when you reach the bottom, the crowd may not be moving due to the merging, so you will either be ground up by the escalator or go crashing into the back of the crowd at the bottom. So if the Jets can get out of there, congrats!

If we build a brand new stadium that has the advanced capabilities like SoFi it could bring so much more money to the region. I think its something that should be looked into on both sides

On the surface, the idea seems excessive. However, the Jets have always been the "other" team at MetLife. If they had their own stadium, it could be a huge upgrade over MetLife. We're talking about a dome. It could be the "Queens palace" where events are held year-round. International soccer games, concerts, conventions, Super Bowls. Imagine a Super Bowl in New York, because of the dome, every decade. National conventions more and more frequent. It would be THE destination for live concerts, where performers would conclude a tour with a massive show. And the Jets would have a home of their own, the same as 29 other teams. There could be some public funding, but this would be a venue that instead of sitting idle like so many stadiums, would make money$$$. However, a dome is a necessity.

MetLife is an absolute joke and has not been embraced by Jets fans from day one. However, am skeptical that the Jets will ever end up moving back to Queens. For one thing, Woody Johnson lives in New Jersey, and I can't see him moving out of his own home state. Secondly, where is this new stadium going to be? The new soccer stadium is already under construction as the land where the junkyards and auto repair shops has already been cleared out. The new plans by Cohen have not yet been approved and even if they were, there's no room for a massive 70,000 or 80,000 seat stadium.

I’m ecstatic as a jets fan on Long Island but I don’t buy it. I could be wrong but what’s the incentive for the jets to spend more when fans will show up regardless of the stadium? Second, there’s at least 10 stadiums in the area. Will the residents be fine with stadiums popping up left and right? Lastly, probably more importantly, where is this stadium going? The Citi field area already feels tight, add an MLS stadium, and an NFL one, and it just doesn’t seem possible. Again, not an expert, but that’s how it feels. Unless the jets team up with NYCFC and the MLS approves a joint stadium, which I know the MLS prefers soccer specific. Or they can sell them on making NYC the largest, premier soccer stadium for the national team as well. I’m rambling, although how unlikely, it’s good news as a jets fan. Come back home.

After going to a game there last year, I can honestly say this stadium is not impressive to me. The seats aren't bolted down properly, the food sucks and I've never seen goal post move that much at a game. The only good thing was that the subway was super close to the stadium so you don't have to drive there. Even the mall next door to the stadium sucks. They just need to start over and each have their own stadium to call home.
