In answer to your title question - It is better to build a stadium in the secluded sports complex in the New York - New Jersey Metro Area than the heart of New York's legendary traffic. It may be on the Jersey side, But it's close enough to Manhattan to have a great view of the New York skyline, Giving the it a solid New York atmosphere.

Both the "They're Too Ashamed to call themselves the New Jersey Giants" and the "They're Too Ashamed to call themselves the New Jersey Jets" play their home games in New Jersey because there is no room for a football stadium along with acres & acres of parking anywhere in the 5 Boroughs of New York City. The ownerships of both teams don't know the meaning of the word gratitude meaning that if it were not for the State of New Jersey giving them the all of that meadowlands real estate to build their football palace, Both teams would be stuck playing their home games in NYC baseball stadiums playing second fiddle to baseball teams. So both the Giants & Jets insist in still playing this silly game of charades better known as Let's Pretend that East Rutherford is the 6th borough of NYC. It's not about municipal border lines, it's about state border lines.

From Penn Station NY to the meadlowlands is a 30 minute venture- driving is far worse because traffic when leaving typically. If the stadiums were in NY the chaos would be 10x as bad. @steves99647 ай бұрын
The same tired argument seemingly posed by everyone outside of the New York area. They should be called New Jersey, blah, blah, blah. The problem is the "New York" in their names doesn't, hasn't and never will refer to New York State; they're the city's teams. They represent New York City, a metropolis that millions identify with whether they live within the five boroughs, on Long Island, up in the Hudson Valley, or in parts of other states such as southern Connecticut of northern New Jersey. So they're still called "New York". Buffalo doesn't play in Buffalo; Dallas doesn't play in Dallas; Washington doesn't play in Washington; and San Francisco doesn't play in San Francisco. I'm sure there are others but who cares? I'm from Long Island which is where the Jets should still be based, but aside from that I've never encountered someone from New Jersey that has a problem with the teams still being called New York. New York City is their city just as it is mine.
@javianjohnson87464 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right. Buffalo Bills, SF 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, hell even technically the Miami Dolphins don't play their home games in the city that's in their name. People need to either stop with this nonsense, or hold the other teams listed to the same standard

Imma be real, if MetLife was built just a bit closer to NYC or even in Newark, it’ll be a lot cooler. It’s built in a style that looks like it was for a city that means business. LA looks calm and warm, Philly and Boston reminds people of the Revolution, the Rust Belt cities reminds people of when those cities boomed. NYC is dense, silver skyline, and efficient. Think of all the things NYC is known for besides the Statue of Liberty that half the island isn’t even owned by NY state. Empire State Building is just an office building, Madison square garden is an arena built within the train station for efficiency, buildings, packed walking, etc. NYC is built to be efficient and that is what MetLife reminds me of. It’s still and ugly stadium with literally nothing near it except a mall that was built because nothing was near it, but if we all push the stadium a bit closer to the NYC skyline, I think it’ll look a lot better. Oh and build a parking deck
@steves99647 ай бұрын
I like what you've said about cities and regions. I agree that one way to describe NYC is its efficiency, while still others that are perhaps more poignant would be its passion and character. That's where Metlife fails. It's reminds me more of the crumbling train stations and airports we had which are in most cases the first thing a non-New Yorker sees when visiting. It's amazing to me that we can't have nice things here. We erect residential buildings larger than even the Empire State Building where the world's elite can come and live in for two weeks, but we can't have decent stadiums or public spaces unless the taxpayers pony up for most of it. It pains me to say, but the state of our pro teams are emblematic of where the city now is. It's just not what it once was. New York is more of an idea or a memory now; it's not a city by and for the people.

You talk as if MetLife Stadium is the only stadium out of place. Let the Track Record Speak For Itself : MetLife Stadium in New Jersey - Home of the Giants & Jets - 4 miles from New York - 10 Minute Drive SoFi Stadium in Inglewood - Home of the Chargers and Rams - 12 miles from Los Angeles - 16 Minute Drive AT&T Stadium in Arlington - Home of the Cowboys - 20 miles away from Dallas - 28 Minute Drive Gillette Stadium in Foxborough - Home of the Patriots - 22 miles from New England - 45 Minute Drive Levis Stadium in Santa Clara - Home of the 49ners - 45 Miles from San Francisco - 49 Minute Drive You now have proof MetLife Stadiums location could have been alot worse.

@EmmanuelConstant7477 ай бұрын
@@HlebV It makes no difference. My point is MetLife Stadiums location is better than most people give it credit for. It may be in New Jersey, But it's close enough to have a solid New York atmosphere with a great view of the New York Skyline. Plus the fact that it's alot more spacious in New Jersey than it could ever be in New York. The Cowboys chose to build their stadium in Arlington rather than Dallas because of similar traffic issues, But nobody has anything to say about that. Not every team can build a stadium at the heart of the city they represent, So you take what you can get. Wether anyone realize it or not - More than half the stadiums in the NFL has traffic issues that are worse than MetLife Stadium.
