Nice seeing you again. I spent my whole life working never having enough money to go anywhere. If I did it was only a few hundred miles from home. So when I bought a house it was in an area where many people from the city go on vacation. It's great to see a young person traveling the world and not slaving away just to get by. Thanks for letting us look at places we'd never be able to see because we're all too old and worn down. Say Hi to Natty.

Found this> I understood that this sculpture originally was placed near the Raddison hotel, but moved to the present location because of objections by local citizens. Another adaptation made, was that the shoes were replaced by flip flops to blend in more easily with the seaside. The intention of the French artist Lili Fantozzi was to caution decisionmakers like politicians and businessmen about how precarious the world around them is. Since these people often stay in places like the Raddison, they are now loosing out on the message.

The pigeon wasn't looking for food, but sand. Birds don't have molars so they have a pouch called a crop (also call gizzard) where food goes to get pounded mechanically before hitting the stomach. Mama birds feed babies with this and it's called crop milk. Oh and some dinosaurs also had a crop but used much larger rocks instead of sand in their crop. 😂

Nice video! Your English and the fluency of your small-talk is very impressive! Skyscrapers? I like Old Batumi for long-term living. They have some nice art nouveau buildings, e.g. if you walk down Melikishvili Street from the beach, you should see at least 2 nice buildings/complexes. Some of those have rather competitively priced apartments compared to the new fancy buildings. IMO, the skyscrapers on the beach are fine for a week or two -- I don't like to depend on elevators, and I hate hotel key cards that you need to update in the reception every 10 days (for Orbi). I think Alliance Palace is pretty cool though, and I hear rumors that you can use the same key card for much longer than 10 days, but I'd still rather have a traditional key. Swimming? I tried the beach, but the pebbles hurt under my feet so bad that I gave up. Worst beach ever, but maybe I tried entering the water at a bad place. My feet were sinking into the cursed pebbles. Although I realize after staying here for a while that Batumi is very Russian language-based, and unfortunately my Russian is terrible, I kinda get along with English here. I'm just here for the 1% tax and the 365 stay permit. It's great, and the weather is much better than Dubai. One of the funniest things to me about Batumi is that I am always asked if I want a "paket". That was the second Russian word I learned after "privet"! "Privet. Paket? Da. Spacibo." I really don't know whether to study Russian or Georgian now. If I end up in Uzbekistan or Kazahkstan later I might as well focus more on Russian than Georgian.

Two weeks ago I heard about a Capybara Cafe (Tokyo), so my first thought was "We MUST get Alena there"! I am glad you had the experience. ☕ The giant flip flop is sitting on the eggs so that the eggs will hatch out the new baby flip flops! Several years ago I was watching a huge fireworks show celebrating American Independence Day. My neighbor was talking, with tears in her eyes, about how it was the most beautiful thing to have freedom of choice and actions, and the potentials in America. She grew up in central Moscow. That sums up a lot right there.

Frankly, only thing I want to improve in Batumi right now, because I am just living here, is that they ought to make more Carrefour hypermarkets or expand the existing ones. The Carrefour in Alley of Heroes is always packed with people, even today mid-October! Meanwhile, in iIstanbul last week I went to a hypermarket around 2 PM and only 2 out of 12 or more cash registers were active. Very few customers, so it was like having a huge store to myself for the most part.

great work, I enjoyed the weird gravel beach expanse. Interesting buildings, will they find people to pay the service charge ? and the air conditioning bill ?
@solconcordia4315
@solconcordia4315 4 ай бұрын
The "gravel" beach means that Batumi is downhill from mountains with rocks being eroded. It's the Caucasus mountains. The rounded stones resulted from the waves grinding the fallen rocks. The waves' energy came from the wind and storms acting upon the Black Sea. The assortment of "weird" gravel means that there are different types of minerals there. As for whether there will be people who will be able to pay the service charge, the answer is usually yes as long as the security situation is fine. Both Sarajevo and Beirut ("streets paved with gold" "Paris of the Middle East") were nice cities before wars ravaged them. The key to a good place for business development is political stability. Georgia is flip-flopping on the edge of greater powers (the E.U. and the Russian Federation) so it's a bit precarious. To the affluent northern European travelers, however, balmy and humid weather may very well be what they look for (yes, brighter sunshine ☀️ can be an antidepressant which is rarer in northern Europe than in Georgia). My own birthplace, Hong Kong was balmy and humid in 黃梅天 in which walls can sweat ! It was still a great tourist destination. I loved going to the many beautiful beaches over there, despite not knowing how to swim (primarily not knowing how to breathe and float but I knew many forms of peddling styles). Warm air-conditioning condensate can breed Legionnaires' bacteria so maintenance is important. I myself have learnt to manage to achieve comfort without using air-conditioning (dehumidifying and ventilation were used instead) for years now. A Batumi vacation for affluent northern Europeans is probably still considered fairly affordable so the tourism business is viable (as long as Russia isn't invading).
