@@karine8738 You know, I'm 16 and just knew that i have inattentive type adhd. At first, my doctor diagnosed me with depression so she gave me Escitalopram, a medicine for clinical depression. After 3 months consuming this Escitalopram, I realised that my mood is getting better from time to time but still, i'm less focus on my homeworks and tasks. After realising this I told my new doctor bout this issue n he said maybe i have adhd instead of depression or maybe both. He then gave me a new medicine which is Methylphenidate n now my concentration also becoming better. Moral of the story, you can only refer to doctors when it comes to diagnosing mental ilnesses n we should't make our own assumptions bout ourself. Doctors r expert anyway.

@@danishafiq4844 yes I know and waiting to see a specialist soon. Thanks for replying to me. I did took escitalopram too but due to sides effects I quit it. My son when today for ADHD and doctor suggest him Foquest and maybe Stratera or concerta. But her first choice was Foquest, and I think it is like Ritalin but extended release. We will see. Thanks to you and happy you feel better too !!!

@@danishafiq4844 Many, many doctors misdiagnose mental health conditions as they are so complex and have so much crossover between conditions. I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome at age 8 but was recently diagnosed with ADHD too since it is very easy to miss in children with ASD, just one of many examples.

I was depressed I had some sort of PTSD but been 5 years now and I’m very confused because I really believe that a drug like adderall will relieve me from all my symptoms (but not the insomnia one). I want to have more productive life. I might not have adhd but I have all the symptoms and I was definitely a sharp smart kid in my childhood. Can I develop adhd after trauma? Seriously I can’t do math now while I used to be fast in processing loads of things in my head now I forget where I started! While I just had started...it feels like my head is useless..lots of other signs...

You REALLY nailed it. Thank you for this video..I was misdiagnosed with depression and anxiety until 33. At that point, I did have depression. Now that I am on the right medication, I haven't had a single episode of depression. It was like a light switch. I saw many doctors, and it really should have been pretty obvious but it seems like most doctors are misinformed or completely lacking in any knowledge of ADHD. THANKS AGAIN!

@@karine8738 I started with a low dose of Ritalin, moved to the extended release of it but it only lasted 6 or 7 hours for me. I then tried Adderall regular and extended release, and it worked great. Only problem- also didnt last long enough (8 or 9 hours, max) but I apparently metabolize medication pretty quickly and everyone is so different. I have stuck with Vyvanse now for almost 2 years. It is expensive, and i would still be taking Adderall if I didnt have a good health insurance plan. Also, I live in the United States. Feel free to reply :) best of luck to you- most people don't find the right medication right away. It does take some trial and error, which wasn't easy, but worth it in the long run. ❤

@@karine8738 of course it's my pleasure! I can't say that Vyvanse has totally taken care of anxiety or depression, but what it did was help me to think clearly enough to take the steps I needed to get better. I didn't even realize how dark of a place I was in because it was all I knew since the age of 13 or so. I still take an antidepressant (Zoloft, or sertraline) and a very low dose of clonazepam (also known as Klonopin, a benzodiazepine). I still have anxiety and some fleeting depression but it is much more manageable. It is definitely a journey, but a truly amazing one. And what is life without an amazing journey, right? :) I have been able to bring my dosage of clonazepam down a lot, but it is something I do wish to stop taking entirely someday. I also have pretty severe OCD, which is very commonly correlated with ADHD, so the Zoloft will probably be necessary for me to live a quality life forever. As far as side effects, Vyvanse is the "smoothest" ride in my opinion, for stimulants. Anxiety is hard to judge because I have been very anxious since birth (according to my mom) lol. I do get an increased heartbeat and lose my appetite but that is a small price to pay to be a fully functioning working adult and mom! Keep me posted :) Love and light, Lindsay

All I focus on every day is how depressed I feel. Like even if I’m doing something I normally enjoy, all I’m thinking about is the fact that I’m not having as much fun as I should be. Every night I go to be hoping tomorrow I’ll feel a little bit better and some days I do, but there is still that feeling that keeps telling me I don’t feel as good as I should feel. Is this ADD, depression, or both?

Same here. I’ve been prescribed lexapro on several occasions and it never quite helped. I’m thoroughly convinced I have ADHD. My therapist felt the same. @@bronxkies thats exactly what my doctor said to me to! She was like "well do you do well in school? " I was like "yeah" then she said "then you don't have ADHD" the diagnosis for ADHD is so outdated and they really only care about ur school life rather than the deeper more important and impactful parts of ADHD so its frustrating even my therapist that they made me get for my so called "depression" said I don't have it because I have good grades. I don't think I'll be able to get a proper evaluation until im 18 and can get a different doctor and schedule my own appointments. I feel like I have the inattentive type or a mix of ADHD

Funny thing, my doctor said USA recently brought a rule for above 21, adhd prescription has to be done only if taken Neuropsychological evaluation test. So she gave me depression drug, saying I have depression and it will solve the adhd problems as well. When I said I don't want some other drug and I will wait for next neuropsychological evaluation assessment and prove that i have adhd and then i will get stimulant drug for it, she said: ok fine, until then at least take Bupropion (coz if i am in 90 days timelimit for 1 life event). But I am not going to take some drug just for the case. i will search other doctor.

Hello Samantha! Often ADHD and depression (as well as anxiety) are comorbid, and their features tend to blur in with one another. Sometimes a depressed person can show symptoms of ADHD especially in work or high-pressure environments. The lack of motivation and concentration that can develop due to depression can often be hard to distinguish from a sole case of ADHD. Often it is the “rule” that ADHD is comorbid with a mood disorder and it usually is the “exception” that someone solely has ADHD. So, your doctors are not wrong for wanting to make sure there is no depressive component to your symptomology; however, it is important to eventually treat the correct diagnosis so I understand it can be frustrating to not see improvements over time. Hopefully, you find the right psychiatric clinician who can determine the root cause of your issues. If you are in New York, we have online booking for telemedicine appointments available 😊 All the best, Raheej Choudhary, PA-C Trifecta Health

I had a dream that there was a machine that they could hook you up to electrodes and send electricity through your brain connecting everything at once and you would be manicly happy for the rest of your life Maybe in the future there will be such a thing like a continuous transfunctioner that will blast your receptors correcting everything .

Something similar to that actually exists. It helps rewire your brain towards positive thinking (it's said to be the equivalent of thinking 10,000 happy/positive thoughts). I don't remember what it's called though. We learned about it in my clinical psychology class.

There's something called electroconvulsive therapy where they basically induce a seizure with electricity and it helps many people who have treatment-resistant depression, but with the downside of commonly fucking up people's memories. There are newer treatments like transcranial magnetic stimulation where they use a magnetic field to induce an electric current in the brain which also helps with treatment-resistant depression without the memory loss of electroconvulsive therapy.

Look into TMS Therapy. It is side effect free and it doesn't have to do with electricity. Very briefly, it works by having a magnet placed on the side of your head to stimulate neurotransmitters. It is fda approved for depression and used off label for anxiety, adhd, and ptsd. Currently working with a therapist for a few more visits because thats what my insurance wants in order to approve TMS Therapy. Look into it, it is side effect free and thats what I'm looking for at least. Good luck!

many of these symptoms overlap. its important to get a full evaluation from a psych provider. While ADHD can worsen depressive and anxious symptoms, there are also centuries of research demonstrating how anxiety and depression can worsen concentration and focus. Please dont self-diagnose - investigate and voice your concerns. and for the love of G*d above - do not smoke weed 24 hours a day and come in saying you cant focus and have low motivation
