Geez that description of depression's essence as anergia and ahedonia is my situation to a tee. Yet whenever I've mentioned anhedonia to psychiatrists during sessions it feels as though they just gloss over it.

At least once (@9.45) I said anhedonia when I meant anergia-- I hope I did not confuse people

Amazing that it was not even a symptom in the DSM Until recently

When you have anhedonia and a missing biological drive you start thinking about things like sense and meaning of life and find no answer

I don't know about other people but I've found that the only real answer to such questions was to never start looking, that I was supposed to just keep plowing forward with whatever I felt was expedient at any moment. But once I started running outta fuel, and my engine finally stopped, and after surviving a long enough period of immobility, with the importance of all those old paths of life having eroded away, I started to think about what I was even doing before and what I could do instead. But I came up empty. Still do. I hope it's just depression itself that causes this, and some motivation takes hold..

Excellent video, Dr. Gilman. For me, anhedonia is a major feature of my anxiety. Because my anxiety takes the form of a thick, disconnecting brain fog that causes me to lose touch will all my interests, appetites and things that bring me pleasure, it’s pretty miserable. I mean it literally feels like someone has stuffed a bunch of cotton in the front of my skull when the anxiety is at its worst. Unfortunately, the only medication that has ever provided relief of these symptoms for me has been Klonopin, not a long term option.

I don't know how this will help anyone like me who is tired of seeing doctors ... and ssris and benzos and antipsychotics and so many issues after stopping them with nothing being told on that. Why don't you come to India?

Does Wellbutrin (ndri) plus and SSRI like Zoloft not give a true SNRI effect?
@lukeraynor37044 жыл бұрын
@Brazoncius Roxfort Thank you for your reply. Would something like Pristiq be sufficient in increasing nor-epinephrine? I have been on the SSRI + Wellbutrin for awhile and I do not feel that it is a very strong combo.

Brazoncius Roxfort ive been on lexapro for awhile. How does it compare to zoloft in regard to serotonin reuptake? Would adding methylphenidate to lexapro be a genuine SDRI?
@lukeraynor37044 жыл бұрын
Brazoncius Roxfort thanks for all of the great information. I’m actually on 40mg of lexapro so that’s a really high amount. Would amphetamine be as beneficial as methylphenidate since it also increase dopamine? Creating another SDRI
@lukeraynor37044 жыл бұрын
Brazoncius Roxfort also my dr said the combo of lexapro + Wellbutrin + methylphenidate would be equivalent to an SNDRI

Brazoncius Roxfort I really appreciate all of your knowledge! I’ve been pushing to try an MAOI but my doc is hesitant. Thanks again!

Thanks for putting your material out there. I think the only American psychiatrist who makes the point about anhedonia is Charles Nemeroff and he also advocates using MAOI's particularly Tranylcypromine. It's miraculous how everything does just fall into place after a few weeks on this medication. I've seen it from also as an observer when a friend had continual crying spells on 600mg! Of Pristiq. I told her to get a prescription for Parnate and within 2 weeks the transformation was amazing more organised, more positive, no crying spells. Unfortunately she had to get her GP to prescribe it as her psychiatrist went all paranoid about the risks even though the silly bitch had never treated anyone with it she was clearly bigoted in her opinion on MAOI's collectively as a treatment option. So if you can't get your psychiatrist to prescribe it give them the arse and find one who will 👍

@3 name changes allowed every 90 days. There's an extra difficulty underlying all the discussion about these drugs I've noticed. I think a lot of us lucky people in countries with decent healthcare systems don't realise how costly it can be to go through the SSRI gauntlet for some others.. When healthcare is expensive the cost of of going to maximum dose then back down, on the whims of a psychiatrist, can put a decent hole in your expenses.

Doctor what would be the best drug for insomnia caused by parnate ? I already had it before. Also I have biological depression and I started parnate 2 days back. I would like to know what drugs can be taken for insomnia with parnate. Please give me choices. Thanks
