Another outstanding build, thanks Andrew. With a camera, vtx and everything its really amazing that it comes to only 330g.

What a little ripper, well done. Anhedral tail sounds interesting, worked well on the F4 Phantom fighter back in the 1960’s.

Thanks Keith, I might make a larger version to test the A tail

I just can't express how much I like this design. I think it actually beats in every aspect the "original" Eachine design.

Only just seen this... Stupid "notification" bell. Just a couple if points: Rounded wing tips are supposed to be more efficient, with eliptical (Spitfire, AXN) supposedly the best. 18650 is /usually/ pronounced eighteen-six fifty, not that it really matters.☺ Turned up wing tips should give you more stability at the cost of reduced maneuverability, but probably won't be noticeable on such a small plane. The holes of control horns should ideally be directly above the center of the hinge and I doubt you'll notice any adverse roll on this model, but that said it seems to fly OK anyway so enough nit-picking. ☺ Thanks for the post!

All good fun Mike, good opportunity to talk more about design
@MikeDesertHunterHale6 жыл бұрын
I hope you understand that what I said was in jest also, not mean to hurt, I think it's super that you are building from scratch. The first time I built a plane there was only very limited rc, it was a wing with a .049 engine on it, balsa, with a fabric cover and was a control line model. That was in 1959 or 60' ( in a class in school called civil aviation). I had built models before, just none that flew....

Andrew thanks for the video of yet another scratch build. If I didn’t scratch build I wouldn’t be in this hobby-less than a year for me. could you say how long the fuselage is? I build it yesterday, but 245mm / 12,5cm in front and 12 cm under the wing doesn´t looks like so long as yours.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Yes it is 245mm not including the motor mount plywood and 40mm foam nose is the final version length. I did shorten it by about 50mm from the original in the maiden

Question, would moving the fuselage alittle back help out with CG and ability to move battery back, you mentioned nose heavy. Just suggestion with my similar planes I used a kmf 2 wing
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Very good idea, I could just put the motor on standoffs to move the CG back and reduce noise. I'll try that
@LuisRussi7506 жыл бұрын
Great job Andrew! Plan to build one of these within the next few days. What is the actual CG measurement for your design? I don't think I've seen that number anywhere.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
I haven't measured it but it will be 30% of 120mm which is about 36mm. I'll do some proper cg testing next flight
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
CG tested back to 45mm which was just a bit too far aft. Around 35mm is good.

Wonderful little plane Mr. Newton!!! I was a US Navy Hospital Corpsman (medic) and I always seem to see potentials for injury. You obviously aren't worried about a prop/hand strike but do you recommend any other method of hand launching a pusher prop plane? Didn't you have a hand injury once from a prop strike? I have been a subscriber for a few years now and I don't have a single tire mark. I've learned a lot from you, keep up the wonderful content.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
You are right about the injury potential. I have chopped my launch finger 3 times, aways with a flying wing. So now I only launch wings with side arm sling. Planes are not as dangerous because the prop is further back and you have a better hand hold to do a clean throw and follow through. Thanks for watching
@Cytogreg6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply as I will build one of these in the future and will experiment with the launches. I’ve never flown a wing but when I do I will take your advice and wing tip launch. Keep up the great work/fun.
@peterfranzen35386 жыл бұрын
Could you add a mini servo to the tail for rudders or would that be too much wieght at the back.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Yes that would actually help move the CG back a bit. But this design doesn't really need moving rudders, maybe on a bigger version

Nice one Bruno. It's a great little model. Clark Y might be too thick but anything thinner would be hard to cut. That's why I used folded 3m depron.

Oh yes. Can fly nice and slow too.

The t-motor air 40 is an amazing motor. So light at only 24.6 grams but with good power. Awesome power/weight ratio so I use them on all my smaller wings. With Dal cyclone 5046C on 4S they have such a furious scream. The dogs around here must hate me. So as Matt O would probably say "go 4S or go home". BTW: If I am a subscriber who has gone under the bus I didn't feel a thing.

Haha, thanks mate.

Thanks for subscribing but at this stage my youtube channel is really just used to do warranty claims, typically with banggood. I have no pearls of wisdom to spread, except depron breaks really easily.

Andrew Newton he's got a lot to say and he REALLY needs to say it. You can throw a load of science at making a plane but proof in in the pudding so to speak. It flys perfectly nowt wrong with it.

Hi Andrew, was wondering if you have ever tried Beacon's Foam Tac? For reference: smile.amazon.com/Beacon-Foam-Glue-Carded-Adhesives/dp/B0052RUL28/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1530154562&sr=1-1&keywords=Beacon%27s+Foam+Tac It very quickly became my go-to glue for new builds and repairs. It tacks fast, helping to keep parts in place, gains strength quickly over 10-15 minutes, remains flexible but holds fast and dries clear. It can even be used to reinforce hinge lines or be used as the hinge by itself. Adheres to almost anything, foam, carbon fiber, wood, plastic and metals. If you haven't used it yet I'd be interested in what you think if you get the chance to give it a shot. Thanks for another great video!
