I hit the slice with a firm wrist as well. I find I can control the ball better especially if I can keep the 90 degree angle between racket and arm through the extension.

3 additional moves to increase depth on backhand slice. 1. Transfer weight forward where you lift your back leg off the ground as make contact.2. Explosive move where you squeeze shoulder blades together as you make contact and into the follow thru. 3 ulnar deviate the right wrist into the follow thru. Some of these moves may have to be dialed back a bit so you don’t hit too long. A good problem to have. I like your instruction Brady, especially your deep biomechanics.

Helpful video! I usually get my best hard deep slice from the ad court going cross court...any advice for hitting this shot down the line?

Simply turn your body more, which means stepping across and down the line towards your target. Good question Lores!

Keep the ball down and with plenty of backspin is the key. Slices that elevate without sufficient backspin end up short and often an easy put-away for your opponent.
