Great breakdown of each serve type with targets in the box.

Brady, I play doubles and 90% of my serves are placed to the inside or body, and about 75% kick / 25% slice. This is to prevent the opponents from returning at a sharp angle. Would you agree that it's important to have depth on body and inside serves? What is the best way to get depth on spin serves to the inside or body? 2 main options I see - either "hard kick/slice" (hitting the ball slightly flatter with less spin), or aiming higher over the net.

Even on a hard kick or hard slice, I wouldn't worry about depth so much. If you have enough racket head speed and pace on your serve, the ball will carry far enough that your depth should be fine.

Gem video with great tips and suggestions. Never realized that Slice Serve from Deuce side should not aim for depth so that it becomes extremely difficult for opponent to get to the serve.

Right now the radical pro with any good 16g polyester string does the trick for me.

Nice tips. How do you control the depth in the kick serve? My kickers land at the corner in the ad court. When I want to hit the sideline, I have to take a step away from the center.

A slight toss adjustment, like inches towards the net, should naturally shut your racket face and bring your serve down shorter in the court. Basically you have to hit more spin and less ball with same amount of racket head speed.

Thanks. That’s the best advice I’ve gotten on this topic.

Brady, dumb question: when you're visualizing the serve placement are you looking at the ground by the opponent's service box or an imaginary window above the net?
@DailyTennisLesson4 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question at all! I prefer to aim in the window. Closer and tangible target.

@@DailyTennisLesson Interesting! I might have to adjust the way I think about the serve now! Have you talked about this in your videos at all, if so I would love to learn more?

I found your video to be very unhelpful. The title indicates that it will provide some insight into generating depth on the serve, but you do not give any. Perhaps you should change the title to something like "Don't worry about depth on serve." I might have still watched it just to see your reasonings, but I don't think you should mislead your viewers.

We did a whole week on depth in all aspects on the game, so its merely a discussion/strategy session on it. No intent to deceive--thanks Adam!
