Deputy Extricated From Patrol Car After Crash | Mentone

11.08.2021 | 3:25 PM | MENTONE - Authorities responded to reports of a TC with persons trapped.
Multiple witnesses called and reported a sheriff’s deputy was trapped in his patrol vehicle.
First responders arrived on scene and located the two vehicle collision with major damage to the front of the patrol car.
Firefighters worked to extricate the trapped deputy.
The deputy was transported to a local area hospital by AMR paramedics in unknown condition.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
No further details are known at this time.

Apparently someone was not paying attention. The deputy is in hospital and sheriff department has a total suv. The young man driving the truck will most likely lose his job. The company that owns the truck has a huge mess on their hand. I hope a speedy recovery for the deputy, the young man keeps his job and everything else is junk that can be replaced.

I was wrong. Just rewatched it. "Cross traffic does not stop" is posted on one of the stop signs. Looks like the contractor was at fault.

Probably the cop had his right hand on the computer keyboard, his left hand on his cell phone and was driving with his knees, because they are allowed to do that. It's bad for citizens to do that, and they will get a ticket for, but it's fine for cops to do it.

I don't care how good a driver you think you are, when approaching intersections, even 4-way stops, look both ways. Just because there is a stop sign for other drivers, don't expect them to stop. From the looks of it, it seems it was the sheriffs fault. I bet he wanted to do an illegal u-turn and didn't see the truck coming from his right side. Hence the T-bone collision seen. Maybe one day cops can see this and realize that they can't be getting away with illegal traffic violations.
