German is a pretty hard language to enunciate. I can imagine that the umlauts are pretty hard. Imagine the ö sounding like "ur" and the er sounding like "uh" Imagine that you're doing a British accent with V's for w's that can really help perfect your German accent.

I find it easier to hit the high F when you place your larynx in position then push out the air as if you were shouting to someone across the street. It shouldn't be approached with timidity. This is an angry, fierce aria and should be sung as such.
