Der Heimliche Aufmarsch is a poem by Erich Weinert that he wrote in 1927. It was set to music by Vladimir Vogel in 1930 on the occasion of the first
International Day of Peace. In 1938 Hanns Eisler made a new arrangement for the song. Ernst Busch had it in his repertoire.
An instrumental version can be heard at the end of Victor Trivas' 1931 film “Niemandsland”.
The song describes a conspiracy by the war ministers, the coal and steel producers, and the imperialists to attack the Soviet Union. The chorus therefore calls on workers and peasants to take up arms against the 'fascist predatory armies'. From the ashes of this last war, 'the world socialist republic' will blossom. In a later text version, Weinert warns of the risk of nuclear war.
