Prior to WW1 in 1914 it was anecdotally said that there were 3 'perfect' organizations in the world, namely the Roman Catholic Church, the German Army, and Standard Oil Company of New Jersey.
@richardkluesek4301
@richardkluesek4301 5 жыл бұрын
@Hammerschlägen M That was about 1910, and the "perfection" referred to at the time was the absolute obedience to the Pope, as in the German Army absolute obedience to the Officers, and in the case of Standard Oil of New Jersey, absolute obedience to the Rockefellers. So the "perfection" was really quite sinister.

I wonder what would had happened if the Kaiser wouldn't have given the Austrians a blank check. Germany did not had to enter an unnecessary war just because the Austrians wanted to conquer Serbia. Serbia had agreed to everything contained in the Austrian ultimatum. It was Austria's ambitions and the foolishness of the Kaiser that sank Germany into a war that it could not win.

@zeusapollo6504

Well, you are wrong and i am austrian. Not proud of what happened there, but Serbia declined every demands. And our Kaiser Franz was very very old in his mid 80ies, his military advisers pushed for war he just signed it, because they urged him to do so and because of the honor lost, assassination + beeing not exactly cooperative is no way how to deal with the highnesses of the empire. War declaration was only wrong, because Austria was not prepared for it. Its not exactly a militaristic empire like prussias' germany. Serbia wanted to be a great serbie too, and was a rival of austria. Austria had to do something about it. Nobody involved in pre WW1 affairs wanted a peaceful solution, they wanted that war. If that asssination or blanko check did not happen, the war would still happen in one way or another.

My paternal grandfather was a German soldier in the Great War before emigrating to the U.S. almost immediately afterwards. I found this video to be very interesting as it gave me some idea of what my grandfather might have looked like. By the way, the last time my grandparents spoke German was when they got onto the ship; they became Americanized very quickly by going 'cold turkey' like this and thus were able to become successful in their new home

My ancestors came to American (Lancaster County, PA) in the late 1700s. They were farmers from the Mannheim region of Germany and of all things they settled in a town named Manheim, PA (don't know if that was by chance or not). My Ancestor's name was Andreas Kammerer and he "Americanized" his name to Andrew XXXXXX. He eventually moved to Cumberland County, west of Harrisburg, PA, bought a farm and is buried at the church cemetery nearby.

All of my great grandparents were Prussian born and came to the US around the 1860s and became very successful farmers in a land passed up by all other Americans on their way westward. @@rattywoof5259 Well, that's my question too. But as someone who has been studying the winter palace for over a year, I can say if it isn't, it looks incredibly and uncannily similar. However, Tsar Nicholas was I believe, a high ranking member of some part of the German army. I forget which part. The Cousins Nicholas, George and Whilem did afterall each have honourary positions in each others military. That could posibly explain it. Otherwise I have no idea.

Prince-elector Frederick III proclaimed King of Prussia on 18 January 1701 in Königsberg (German: König in Preussen, in the guise of princes, in whom they had been sovereigns since 1657), since the title of King of Prussia was due from 1466 to Polish rulers, and took the name Frederick I It was also associated with the desire to avoid conflict with the Republic of Poland, because the name "Prussia" also included Gdańsk Pomerania.... he crowned himself in Königsberg because the real capital of Prussia Malbork Castle (German: Ordensburg Marienburg) was for 315 years the Residence of Polish Kings (1457-1772) ... the beginning of this creation is rather miserable ... !!!
