Good Morning: Thank you for reading my comment for real. And I wrote this comment because I need help. I wanted to know the name of a short movie that set France in Nazi Germany, in which a group of Wehrmacht invaded a French country house and one of them tried to rape a French girl but the other Wehrmacht soldier stopped him and in the end the soldier who arrested him tied the Wehrmacht soldier who tried to rape the girl. Then the other soldiers start hunting the Wehrmacht that killed the other in self-defense. In pursuit the fugitive soldier was wounded in the leg, but managed to hide in a cave and while building a fire, a large white wolf approaches the injured Wehrmacht. The Wehrmacht had watched him carefully in the eyes of the white wolf, remembering the French girl who saved him from being raped. And at dawn the injured Wehrmacht had a personal mission: Hunt your ex-Wehrmacht colleagues before they kill him. Hallo Jack. The song was texted and sung in Germany by Hannes Wader. It deals with the symbolic death of a nameless soldier in World War I. For our series "Der Sanitäter" I have adapted and sung the first stanza to the Second World War. Two more versions can be heard in the credits of Part 2 and 3. This is the text translated into English: It's high time / Es ist an der Zeit Far in the Champagne in midsummer green there where poppy flowers bloom between grave crosses there the grasses whisper and shake themselves effortlessly in the wind, which gently sweeps over the graveyard At your cross I find dead soldier, not your name, only numbers and someone has painted the number 1916, and you were not even 19 years old. This is a song about WW1/WK1 written in English by Eric Bogle and is called Green Fields of France (it was originally titled No Man's Land - but it is almost never known by that name here in Ireland; Green Fields for us 100%). Bogle also wrote And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. Both are great anti-war songs that honour the common soldier casualties of battle while questioning and challenging the political doctrines bring about such suffering. I hadn't heard of a German version until now. (See note from Giant Stone Pictures about Es ist an der Zeit and Hannes Wader.) I see that both singer/songwriters were born during WW2/WK2. Bogle (b. Scotland 1944) and Wader (b. Germany 1942). It would be nice to imagine that they have crossed paths and shared their own stories together. Alexander G. 😁 Tatsächlich soll es nicht so dicht an der Gefechtslinie sein. Das ist so gewollt. Der Verletzte wurde weit ins Hinterland gebracht. In jeder weiteren Folge rückt alles näher an die Kampflinie heran.

Die erste Episode verarbeitet das Schicksal eines Sterbenden in der Erinnerung des besagten Sanitäters. Deshalb stehen hier auch keine Kriegsgeräusche im Vordergrund. In der Erinnerungssequenz des Sanitäters in einem scheinbar friedlichen Wald (betont durch Vogelgezwitscher) kämpft ein Kamerad infolge einer Kampfhandlung um sein Leben.
