A funny old advert from Derbyshire council from about the mid-1980s. Sorry, this one has had a laugh track added.

Coming from Notts/Derby, I often said this to my Yorkshire missus… she had no idea what I was talking about. She does now! 😂

Watched this when it first came out. “How much Alfreton” became our our phrase for how much something cost.

She's closer to 130 now, she lives next door to me. She's still a passionate runner too, jogs twice a day and is hoping to beat Usain Bolt's 100m record. She's only 0.09 of a second off at the minute

How times change. Funny in councils no longer want to fund rural bus routes, but continue to hold their hands out for council tax
@old.not.too.grumpy.10 ай бұрын
That's because council tax only accounts for between 15% to 25% of spending the rest come from central government grants that have be reduced in real terms every year for the last 13 years

80p is dirt cheap though. How can't someone afford that? Today a trip like that would be £5.
@HamishG1992 ай бұрын
It was different back then
@AK.2425Ай бұрын
It would probably be £2 considering the bus ticket cap by the government, unless they don’t do it in Derbyshire.

Somewhere near Alfreton I guess?
@romeofoxtrot5 жыл бұрын
Probably somewhere around Matlock, Ambergate or Oakerthorpe which are all not far from Alfreton. Don't hold me to it though!
@massonman90995 жыл бұрын
@@romeofoxtrot I know that, but where? I was hoping someone could be specific.
@bjornhattan60264 жыл бұрын
Almost certain it would have been Cromford or Matlock, that's where that service would have gone in the former West Derbyshire district (where the lady's pass is from).
