Slimane has a very original version of this very beautiful song. We can tell among Shakira's public reaction that it was her concert in France. She realised a nice homage to this very nice song. All this is Interesting but I still prefer Cabrel's version because I'm so used to it! I also miss his accent and ... his moustache ! (lol)

Très belle reprise de la part de Slimane que j'adore. C'est un très bon chanteur mais aussi interprète qui sait s'approprier les chansons. Quand je l'ai entendue, j'en ai même eu des frissons et les larmes me sont montées tellement il y avait d'émotions.

Slimane's mannered style distorts the song. Shakira is a big voice, but she does tons of it. Classic examples of our time when the form obscures the content.

Derek my dear, please correct the mistake in the vignette. It says "Je l'aime mourir" which means "I like him dying". The "à" is very important here. Je préfère quand même la version originale de Francis Cabrel. Petite Marie, l'encre de ses yeux sont de magnifiques chansons aussi. J'avoue que la version de Shakira est très bien mais trop proche de l'original à lon goût. J'aimerais voir un peu plus de Jean Jacques Golman et Daniel Balavoine sur cette chaîne ;) qui sont de super paroliers

Magnifique interprétation de Slimane qui a su reprendre "à sa manière" cette chanson dont on oublierait même l'original! Il a su la moderniser en y mettant sa propre "patte" pour la faire connaître à la nouvelle génération et c'est réussi quitte à froisser les "vieilles cloches". Bravo l'artiste! 👍👏

Hello Dereck, I think that - "Je l'aime à mourir" means I love her to the point I could die for it. It is extremely poetic and should not be translated as "I love her to death" because this would be too harsh and unpoetic.

@@sarkopek3213 ce n'est pas non plus une question de chanteur "moderne", tu es axé sur la génération alors que le problème c'est le style. Tu vois tu ne comprends pas. C'est une chanson en apparence simple mais maîtrisé, la voix simple de Cabrel va à l'essentiel et est en parfaite balance avec l'instrumentalisation qui se résume à de la guitare et du violon ensuite. Alors que Slimane jongle et fait une démonstration de ce qu'il sait faire. Il en fait trop pour une chanson qui n'en à pas besoin. Et ce n'est pas un problème de génération car même un chanteur de l'époque de Cabrel aurait pu faire la même erreur que Slimane. Donc l'erreur de Slimane ce n'est pas sa génération mais c'est d'avoir utilisé cette chanson pour faire une démo de ces talents. Il en fait trop tout simplement. Quand tu compare avec Shakira, tu vois qu'elle a essayé d'en faire un moment de grâce, simple et intime avec son public. Elle a su y mettre son identité en ajoutant des nuances mais sans jamais dénaturer l'œuvre de base. Cette chanson est une déclaration d'amour simple et efficace. Donc pour moi le mot-clé est "simplicité". L'œuvre originale est poétique mais là Slimane avec tous ses arrangements et ses variations en a fait quelque chose de superficiel. Pour moi c'est ça le problème, il a perdu la profondeur de l'œuvre parcequ'il s'écoute chanter tout bêtement. D'ailleurs je ne suis pas du tout fermé à ce que fait Slimane et cette reprise ne m'étonne pas de lui car déjà une de ces chansons avait une instru qui faisait penser à du Cabrel, donc j'avais déjà perçu cette influence chez lui.
