❤❤Curtis Mayfield. Another underrated gem in his catalog is “There’s No Place Like America Today” , and to my ears possibly his best sounding recording in terms of the mixing of instruments.

Love the two Matching Mole albums although they are quite different from each other. Yes, the band name is play on words for Soft Machine which in French is "Machine Molle". Poor Phil Miller was incredibly scared playing guitar on the second album with Robert Fripp being producer. Dave McRae was better suited for the band than David Sinclair. Sinclair preferred more song oriented material leaning toward ballads like "O Caroline".

You mentioned Mercury Rev and watching documentaries and I wonder if you've ever watched The Fearless Freaks? It's a 2005 documentary about The Flaming Lips.

What is it with regional sounds? Biglieto has a similar “sound” to stuff like Goblin which was from that era, but I also hear whatever this sound in more recent stuff like Be Forest. If I knew more about theory I could probably define it that way, but there’s also more to it. 👍

The race issue in America is so hot and sensitive that , Yes, what you experienced at the post office was probably what you think. Over correcting if you will. It’s not some inside knowledge, but I think it happens a lot. It’s coming from a good place though
