God, I miss Peter. He would have absolutely been the only one who could have found the humor in all the horrible things going on in the world, today. That is what absolutely makes me want to cry for him. He kept on laughing all the way to his grave. I wish I could learn to do that.

I read all the comments to this and other Derek and Clive sketches, and I see that no one has any idea what they were really talking about. This is not superficial entertainment but a rebellion and also a cry for help. But never mine, it seems like all of this original protest has been undermined by recent developments that allow people to have their voice and allow this kind of thing and more, so long as we are all following the rules and helping the rich get richer.

Yea part of their gift seems to be this way they have of beginning from a place of social irreverence/resentment and then building to a place of creative fullness where they have so far transcended the emotional austerity of merely poking fun that it’s like they’re showing you a different way of being at the same time they’re saying that things should be different. It gives me this weird feeling of heartache

I think his alcoholism got in the way of comedy so anybody was fair game. Moore was able to have a later career that was successful but Cook won the day...he was a chat show hit.
