There's this eternal 'What If' haunting us, leaving us wanting for more. We want to strip off the lies and the deception, but we cannot get through. You know what I love about their relationship and the reason why its lasted this long ? It was so natural/authentic and didn't have a Disney filter on. (I mean, technically Derek&Casey was an accident, but makes the most sense?!:) They had such a complex dynamic that they didn't have to tell each other 'I love you' because they already knew how the other felt.

You put it beautifully ! In fact, both of my OTPs (Derek/Casey and Merlin/Arthur) are non-canon ships technically speaking, even though both have been aknowledged in the end by the cast and crew because they were so prevalent in the fandom and made so much sense. I think, sometimes, when screenwriters aren't trying to make a ship happen, that's when they write the best relationships because it doesn't feel manufactured. It happens by itself, almost. And when it does, it's absolutely beautiful !

Great comment, but I have to disagree with your very last sentence. I don't think they know how the other feels. After all, so much is explained if you see LWD as a show about star-crossed lovers fighting their own feelings. Their constant fighting and bickering the only safe outlet and excuse to be close and orbiting each other. Casey's ever more desperate attempts to make him her brother to avoid asking if there maybe isn't more. Derek's attempts to keep her from getting close, but unable to watch her suffer. Look at their relationships. With Sam there's no spark, with Max she can't be herself and Truman is a barely veiled attempt at a permissable Derek-stand in. Derek's string of girls are meaningless and bore him quickly. And through all this time one person is constantly on their mind...

Derek can be as flippant as he wants, but when no one is looking he sincerely DOES care about Casey and HE CANNOT COPE with that. You know what, reboots are kinda like the thing to do nowadays so Mike and Ashley should call up the rest of the cast and do a little reboot Series on Disney+ since it was a big thing in America just as much or maybe the same amount as it was up here in Canada since it is a home produced show on what was called Family Channel at the time.

Haha, that is a voiceover from The Vampire Diaries in which a character (I forgot her name but I can find it for you if you'd like) describes the bond between Damon and Elena. I don't ship Damon/Elena but I thought the quote was very fitting for Derek/Casey. :)

I don't know that I would be able to edit them with this particular song because, as beautiful as it is, it relates to an abusive relationship & that's something I don't wanna equate with Derek/Casey (maybe i'm too close to it, too).
