The absolute model champion- he makes up for all his limitations with sheer heart and mental strength, and given what he's been through with his family and the Jazz fans treating him like he's Ashley Cole after he saved their ass, it makes it even more incredible. Not to mention the job he does keeping his teammates on track, no easy feat with egos like Kobe and Artest in the same huddle, Fish is truly one of a kind. Definitely have more respect for his clutch than Horry's for ex.

Personally I feel his jersey should be retired. Yes he is a role player but on 5 championship teams. He made a lot of clutch shots for many years in a Lakers uniform dating back to the 90s. Hes a consummate professional on and off the court and brought a calming influence that countered Kobe's and brought balance to the team. I cant imagine anyone wearing number 2 on the Lakers other than D Fish. His jersey should hang next to the 5 banners he helped bring home regardless of what capacity he did it in.

You're wrong, Derek Fisher gets credit for at least 3 great moments in Lakers history. 0.4 Shot, the 2 - 3 pointers in Game 4 (at the end of regulation, 30 seconds left in OT) vs Orlando and game 3 vs The Celtics. Derek has made more clutch shots than these, but these are the iconic moments of Derek Fisher in the Lakers. This was probably the greatest performance in Fisher's Career.
