Because Stiles is the only one really worthy of Derek's devotion and the only one that would truly take care of him. What Derek says to Peter while in pursuit of Cora and Boyd who went literally 'lunatic' is the basic truth about his character. He is incredulous that Peter thinks having some 'innocent people' killed doesn't matter. No matter how much indifference he shows, he is basically good and he tries to protect everybody, otherwise he wouldn't have gone into the boiler room to save a human (Mrs. Blake) whom he doesn't even know personally. And he tells Scott not to come with him even though he knew it might kill him. He doesn't kill Boyd and Cora but just holds them off ALL NIGHT LONG while they slashe at him. He suffers through the pain, but doesn't give in. In the first season he saved Scott from the hunters when he barely knew him and he was not even a part of his pack. In the second season he pulled arrows from his own body so that he could pull Scott away from danger. He gives up his Alpha status to save his sister. In season 3, he bodily covers Chris Argent, who was once his mortal enemy, when an explosive goes off in the police station. It is said the choices we make instinctively when we don't have time to think show us in our true light. So what do Derek's choices tell us - that he is guardian angel, but he doesn't make a lot of fuss about it.

+Imanonlololol It is really sad that Derek is blamed and chastised by everybody around him for his apparent inaction, his lack of trust, his inability to become a true leader and the list goes on. Considering his history with Kate (and Peter who was the actual Iago in Derek+Paige love story), considering how he is hunted down and threatened whenever the Argents just felt like it (remember the petrol pump where Chris bullies him for no apparent reason and smashes his car window, making snide comment about his family) why is it a wonder to everybody that he doesn't trust anyone and that he is so very angry and that he wants power because he feels so vulnerable. When he was Scott's age he didn't have a Melissa or a Stiles or a Allison or even a Lydia to comfort him to support him through hell to give him good advise...he only had Peter who was as twisted as a psychopath. Still he always tries...he tries to save Allison and others (from Scott), he tries to save Scott from himself, he tries to save Scott from the hunters, he tries to save Boyd and Erica and Isaac...he doesn't want to be a killer or a monster. Why is it that people in teen wolf can't show him a little bit gratitude and love for God knows he deserves it....lots of it!

This is amazing! So many emotions! I love how in the beginning (and even in the parts of the middle and at points to Derek's end in season 4), we see how much Peter has affected Derek. It's in the way Derek shifts, talks, thinks. But at the same time, we see how truly different they are; Derek is willing to put his life on the line to help Scott while there were several times where Peter was not because it could end up badly for him. Other times, Derek showed a reform on thinking or he found a better way while Peter stayed consistent. I think that's a well written character but I do agree; Derek needs to be there to do actual work, not to have his shirt off.

+Shab by Jeff Davis didn't want to keep him badly enough to let him do anything interesting. A good chunk of the complexity and depth in Derek is stuff that Hoechlin brought/did/thought up. And his character was so poorly used for most of season four... Hoechlin has pretty well said that he's done with teen wolf, and that if he ever came back, it would be to do actual compelling character work, not just to take off his shirt. Only he was really polite about it.

Wow-this. Really, just. Wow. Very well edited and put together and you worked around the music already in the show really well so that there wasn't discordant conflict with your music and the show's and you did a really good job with the audio too! And also it just really concisely presented how much shit Derek has gone through. I mean, I think I don't really notice it as much because it's a tv show so violence is expected and mental issues are usually glossed over and it's usually fairly spread out over time too, but wow this was just one concentrated mass of "Derek Hale has gone through some shit and though he doesn't always make the best choices, he tries pretty hard and really deserves a million hugs and warm cuddly comforting things." And your footage choices for the line "thistle and weeds" were spot on, and not too repetitive. Also adding bits of the lyrics here and there really served as good accents without overpowering and distracting from the video and let me as the viewer switch between focusing on the lyrics and how the music moves with what you showed. It was really nice to have the parts you wanted me to focus on to be pointed out by single instances of word overlay instead of just making lyrics already there more noticeable. It was very unobtrusive while still making me pay attention. And this is definitely moving and has rewatch value (which I consider a good thing since it means it sticks with you (the general "you") and you want to see it again for all of the things in it and once just isn't enough, even though saying something has X value sounds really callous but I don't know how else to say it!).

For the people in the back DEREK DESERVED WAY BETTER. So many times throughout the seasons I just wanted to hug him and help him because he was lonely, trying to help everyone and when he made a mistake or failed to save someone it was thrown in his face constantly it made me cry when he sacrificed himself to save the teacher in the boiler room (spoiler: even tho that bitch was evil) but it made me so happy to see him fall in love with girls
