Most kids who grow up loving baseball dream of playing. Jeter lived out that dream to the fullest. He got to play his whole career for his favorite team, won multiple championships, accolades, records, and the HoF.

"I preach patience, I don't have any." -Derek Jeter, 2020

I will admit as a Yankee fan my entire life from 1980 onward Jeter was not my favorite Yankee. I watched as everyone wore his jersey and I praised Mariano Rivera and Darryl Strawberry and David Cone, & Roger Clemens, & Randy Johnson, & on & on... But as time went by you ended up being the last man standing and you kept delivering clutch hit after clutch hit. In 2014 versus the Baltimore Orioles I was sitting on the edge of my seat chanting Der-Rek Je-Ter!!! Because I just knew that you were going to get that game winning hit. Not only that because I knew that it was an end of an era. You are truly a class act and I thank you for everything that you did for the organization. You still might not be my favorite Yankee but you gave me some of my most favorite Yankee moments.

My sister was a big Yankee fan throughout the late 80s and early 90s. I didn't really start watching baseball until she went to college. It was 1996. I've been a fan of The Yankees and of Derek Jeter ever since.

My absolute favorite athlete of all time man! Since a little boy I've grown up watching Derek. Wish he knew how much he meant to my life. Absolutely admire him, looked up to him. Didn't have my father around much, and he was who I modeled myself to be. Respectful. Thoughtful. An absolute gentlemen. People and family first. Never think to much of yourself or take yourself too seriously! Love you man. So proud of you and this moment! GREATEST YANKEE EVER💙🤍

I think with his next contract, Judge will be named the next captain. He reminds me so much of Jeter. He's not my favorite player, Torres is, but the his role in the clubhouse combined with always doing his best on the field jist reminds me so much of Jeter and other captains before him.

It was an honor to watch this kid play. From the 1st time watching way back in '95 you knew he was special. I thank my Lord and Savior for letting me see his amazing career. He was blessed with two wonderful parents. If nothing else thats what impresses me more- how he was raised. It's what made him who he is. Stats are numbers, the things that Derek did overshadow the actual numbers. He was going to be great at whatever he wouldve done.

How is CARLOS DELGADO not in the HOF??? 473 homers, 1,512 RBI, 1,241 runs, .280/.383/.546 with a .929 career OPS. He was a one-man wrecking crew who NEVER had a hint of steroid controversy or innuendo.

Hes not hall of fame material. Plain and simple
@user-dr7uu8ct4l5 жыл бұрын
Great comment, David. Delgado definitely deserves to be a Hall of Famer. He was one of the most consistent and dominant players of his era. His numbers are outstanding. He was also a very classy guy, never a bad word was said about him, and as you said, no roid rumors.

@user-bw6ig2mb5d5 жыл бұрын
@@spacemanspiff2601 It DOES seem outrageous. You were obviously not watching baseball from 1996-2008 when Delgado was terrorizing pitchers all over MLB. You must have been too busy reading Calvin and Hobbes comics.

I think they should make public who the no votes are so fans can know why especially when it is just one. Sounds like the guy was a Boston or Mets fan which is just based on bias jealousy and not a real baseball reason.

Sorry MLB nice try, but this Jeter HOF won’t distract us from the fact that the ASTROS and REDSOX cheated the game!

Too bad there is very little discussion about Jeters great career and HOF induction with Astro cheaters getting all the attention.....Hope we are talking about them being banned from the game but they wont. Too little regard for the Jeters of the world for the mlb brass to stand up for the game and the fans!
