I didnt think this video woulda hit me this close to the feels, but yet it did. When you talked about fear of failiure and legacy, it reminded me of how i feel about my art journey as well as my path on job hunting. Im not exactly the brightest person there is and i struggle with adhd, self esteem, depression and social anxiety. But the one thing i can be happy about is my ability to draw. I always had a passion for art but later down the line i experienced how painful the journey was, very painful ones that made me want to quit but i was too persistent and stubborn. Even with my stubbornness i wasnt ineffected by the fear of failiure. I look up to alot of people and i always pictured myself being as good as them, but that fear of failiure keeps creeping on my back telling me, pushing me, forcing me to improve and fix that mistake or my art would look bad. It eventually grew a parasite called perfectionism. No matter how many years i practiced, studied, improved, my brain never feels satisfied that i feared that when i share it, no one would love it. Fear of failiure truely is the killer of everyone's future of growth because of how painful it feels to make that mistake (even if repeated) and that thought runs to your head. And that part about losing a loved one, im very sorry for your loss(s). I remember my first time going to a funeral, it was my cousin's. At the time i didnt know why was everyone crying but it eventually hit me and it crushed me. Ever since then, i try my best to have the best memories and cherish it with the people i care for because life is short and no one knows when its their time. Anytime i think about death i began to cry. The thought of my mom or my best friend passing was the worst thing i could ever imagine but i know its inevitable. Death is scary, but that fear makes you want to appreciate the life you still have. Even if appreciating it would be difficult, theres still people to help you appreciate it.

i AM reading allat!!!! this actually hit kinda hard to me as well because im an artist myself and im still young though and I too struggle with those things, social anxiety, self esteem issues depression ect. Thinking about the future is SO DAMN scary because I know what I want to do but I don’t feel like I’ll be good enough, which is why I relate so hard to your comment here about perfectionism in art. But reading this I can at least know that the struggle I feel is not just me. This comment was well written, props to you on that. I hope you can succeed in your art career, and never stop trying. I’m still not sure if I wanna make a career out of my art, or find something else to do as I don’t want the one thing I enjoy to turn into something I dread. But this video and your comment has inspired me to keep trying new possibilities that can be scary, and find something that’ll work for me and to keep going. Thank you.

I went from laughing so hard in the beginning to feeling motivated at the end. Thanks for that wonderful message of not giving up! But side note, having a fear of the dark when i was younger. Makes me embarrassed now for some reason because the reason for that fear was just me being delusional and seeing things 😭 although im not scared now, sometimes when i turn the lights off i be walking so fast to my room still. Its mainly being scared of the dark in an enclosed space for me when i was younger and even a tiny bit now. But not when im outside, became street lights are in every corner so im not really in the dark and I would never go out at night alone anyways ☠

Death is a true fear, rejection is a true fear, etc. But they are all inevitable. The thing is, will you let it affect you? Also, sorry for your lost Derek. I lost my grandpa on my step dad's side in 2020, and to this day, I think about him everyday, even though we barely knew eachother and only met a handful of times before he died. But, i will never, and i mean NEVER, forget those moments, and neither should you. Make memories that will last forever. Always have fun, be yourself, and NEVER, EVER, give up. Be easy yall 💙🙏🏽✌️

Damn didn't think this was gonna be that deep, but I think I needed this. Last night, I got severely depressed cause I paid rent and have no money. I got a roof over my head and food on the table. You know things people say all the time you need to be grateful of, and I am. But Im just surviving, and anytime I want to do other things, something else pops up. I told this to my grandma and mom and all they said was "yea thats life and you are still young so youll understand more"....I was 27 at the time and months later at 28 I still can understand them. I've gone through so much in the last 10 years ALONE, I know hardship and how life is. What im talking about is being able to live but not throw my well-being away. Because if I really have to, Im just not gonna be here anymore. Im medicated and all, but it's still freaking hard. My point it hearing you say all of this just reminded me that Im still working to my goals and need to keep focusing on that and stay strong. Im lucky to have friends and a bf who understands me even if they keep hearing this over and over. I can tell it's becoming less frequent, and im able to keep getting up quicker. I just need a good cry, some good food and good people by my side. Also my mom ans gram try to help as well, its just, I see this too often and Im even starting to do this, once someone older hears someone ypunger complain, they immediately try to wave it away just because they already went through the same things. I never wanna be that person sonim trying to catch myself when I do and at least just try to lend an ear and a place where people can go to feel comfy and let loose.

Thanks, Derek, this hits pretty hard for me. I’m trying to make it as an independent animator without an art scholarship, and I lost Dad last year, and then my grandmother this year. (That’s two deaths in a row!) So I have all reason to fear death, loss and failure, and I sometimes do fear them, but I’m still trying. Because, if I keep working hard, at least I’ll have something to dedicate to those two people who loved and supported so much. I’m sorry about your grandfather and friend, but thanks for sharing your wisdom.😊
