The book No, David! is based on true horror events based on the horrifying acts of David Shannon when he was a child. David grew up a menace to society, lying about everything, cutting lines at lunch, and way more terrifying acts. When David turned age 13 he committed genocide and when interviewed by police David terrifying says "Who was gonna stop me?" These words shook police. David later took out a M14 taking the lives for 5 police men. David was sentenced to death row. When sentenced to death row all David did was give a sinister smile. 4 years later David survived execution and escaped prison then went on to be the most infamous villains in history.

My poor mother was tortured ever day in class by him, he was real. When a man gets a knock on his door and gets shot in the head people think David would be the victim, he's just a kid. No, David is the one who knocks he gets this innocent reputation due to him being a kid. I know the truth I know what he has done. He won't get away with it. I will stop him. Maybe it was the beer goggles. Maybe it was the trauma and years of physical therapy after the incident a decade ago that broke her. She had convinced herself that David could do no wrong. She always defended him at the court trials, always bailed him out, and this was all she got in return. You get what you pay for. As she smelled her cooking flesh, her nerve endings completely toasted, she mustered all her strength to turn her head and face her son. Hey vision was blurry, but for a moment, for a brief moment, the devil appeared to smile back at her from the flames. If she could move, she'd pray for forgiveness, but she realized that nothing could forgive her for what she brought unto the world. With her final strained gasps, she whispered... "Why, David, why?"

This video brought back a childhood memory for me that for me was already forgotten years ago. As a child, I thought of No David as the story of a problem child, a little rebel who didn't care about rules or manners and played victim when he gets caught. But now I realize that we have upon thousands of people who act like David but as adults. David is also a pretty creepy character with his pitch black mouth, his black dot eyes, and also the creepy and uncanny art style he exists in. I am sure the artist behind No David had a somewhat grim taste in illustrating.

Let me tell you the things he does: He tries to get the cookies. He ran into the house looking dirty. He had a bath with water running on the floor. He ran away naked. He got home and played loud music. He played with his food. He talked and yelled while he was eating. He was then forced to go to his room. He jumped up and down on his bed. He refused to put his toys away. He picked his nose. He broke his parents vase. He got sent to the corner crying. His mother tells him to come here and tells him she loves him. That was No David by the way.

And whats worse, David is based on the author. David isn't just a boogeyman that haunts our nightmares, he haunts the streets in irl! He is out there writing tell all books detailing his war crimes. We have hunt David Shannon and make him pay for his crimes! Also he out of every author I have ever read has given me the most nightmares, I have read Coraline, goosebumps and scary stories to tell in the dark, hunger games, Fahrenheit 451, pinnocchio, etc but the most scariest book I have read is Stripes written by David himself. The last few pages are horrifying!!! All coming out of David's twisted minds!

David being sent to time out only to be taken out without him learning his lesson reminds me of one of Kratos' boat stories that he tells his son, Atreus, in God of War. Kratos: There was a young man who was caught stealing and condemned to die. His mother came to visit his prison. She was a kind woman, who could only give love. But her son, the thief, met her with rage and bit off her ear. Atreus: What! Why? Kratos: Because the boy had always been a thief. And his mother had taught him only love, and nothing of consequences. Had he been taught discipline instead, he might have lived longer. Atreus: Sure, but… her ear… that’s not right.

When my class read these books as kids, we all kind of saw him as relatable to ourselves or to our classmates. I remember a time that David did something and the whole class went "Yeah that's just like ____!" The teacher would ask us how we felt whenever david did something wrong and it didn't encourage us to do bad things, if anything we looked down at him 😭. We weren't scared of him,we just thought he was kind of dumb.

The biggest issue with parenting is parents not letting children suffer for their own mistakes. They don't even need to do anything, they just need to stop treating their children like little princes and princesses and saving them from their own idiocy. I feel like there's only 2 paths for David after the books whenever he becomes an adult. He either has a complete character arc and becomes one the kindest people as a way to basically atone for being a criminal of a child and presumably teenager, or he becomes a sociopath who manipulates and abuses everyone around him to get what he wants until karma eventually kills him.

Well, midway through the book, she paused on the page and essentially said, "Sorry class, we can't read this anymore" and she told the student to never bring in this book again.
