Part 9- Outpouring of Divine Love • Paul outlines stages of spiritual progression: a) Peace with God, b) Access to God’s grace, c) Rejoice in hope of God’s glory, d) Rejoice in suffering which produces perseverance, character and hope and e) Pouring of God’s love-the Agape love. (Romans 5:1-5) • What is Agape love? God chose to love powerless, ungodly and sinners. That is Agape love. (Romans 5:6-8) • Agape love is the product of new birth. (I Peter 1:22,23, I John 4:7,8) • Holy Spirit pours out totality of God’s agape love in our hearts. Agape love is divine, inexhaustible, and supernatural. (Romans 5:5) • Thirsty man becomes a channel for streams of living water i.e. immersed in God’s love. (John 7:37,38) • All gifts of Holy Spirit are intended to be channels of divine love. (I Corin 13:1-3) • The goal of whole Christian ministry is attaining God’s love. Agape love is worked out in daily living by discipline and character training. (I Timothy 1:5)
