Culver’s is great! It actually seems to be like someone is in back, scaling and gutting a freshly caught fish and then frying it up for a Friday fish fry! The tarter sauce seems to be homemade and the roll is really just there to make it easier to hold because the fish is the star of the show. Number one when I lived in Wisconsin.

Culver’s does not have homemade tarter sauce as I always have it on the side and it’s prepackaged. I do agree Culver’s is probably the very best fast food fish sandwich around if you are near one

I appreciate you taking time to eat sandwiches shortly after ordering, because other reviewers will order 6 or more sandwiches, then take them home, set up their camera, talk, show their sandwiches to the camera, etc. By the time they begin tasting, those sandwiches they've already been sitting for a couple hours and then they complain how the lettuce is wilted or the cheese isn't melty, the bread is soggy or doesn't taste fresh, well duh...it's been sitting for hours. So, thank you. I rarely eat fast food, but when I do it's nice to get an honest perspective to help my decision making.

With regards to McDonald's. Their "secret menu" allows one to ask for a double filet at a modest cost increase and extra tartar sauce at no cost. The customers for the fish sandwich are relatively small compared to beef or chicken, but they are devoted and steady, frequently being the only sandwich they order and the only reason they (taking their kids) go to McDonald's.

Filet O Fish is the king of fish sandwiches due to the steamed bun, large dollop of tartar and the use of half a slice of cheese. During Lent they sell a ton of them.

The LAST Mcdonalds fish sandwich I had was so over cooked the breading was burned and hard as a rock and the fish was mush.

I order the fish cooked to order and wrapped in paper. It steams the bun, and the fillet is square on the bun, as opposed to being thrown in a box w/tartar sauce everywhere. Same with the Big Mac... ask to have it wrapped.

Every lent I make the rounds and checkout every fast food fish sandwich I can find. So far this year I’ve tried the Wendy’s, the Popeyes classic and of course McDonald’s. The Popeyes I had was huge. Thick and crispy. The fish itself was very mild as I would expect from flounder. The Wendy’s was fried well and had a good amount of fish to crust ratio, but I found very strong in flavor as I would expect from its higher fat/oil content. The filet of fish was the same as always. If your hungry you can get the double and skip the fries. It’s my go to. As of this moment I found the Popeyes to be the best. But mine was very different then the ones I’ve seen reviewed.

Wow Catherine! That was a great video. I love fish sandwiches and to see 11 all at once was awesome. Love you're personality too. You seem so sweet. I had seen you once before in a video but it has been awhile. I'm going to try the Wendy's panko fish. I go there all the time and have 1500 points in my app. So everyone don't forget to put app on phone and scan QR just before you pay. They'll help you. But my favorite fish sandwiches are Culver's if you're near them. Year round they have the North Atlantic Cod sandwich for $5.99. Delicious But just now as they are fished off Wisconsin and Canada The Walleye. Sand 6.49. or Dinner $12.29. The Walleye is a fish you would get in an expensive restaurant. From Iowa I grew up with it. In the dinner you get two huge pieces and a roll and side. Better for less bread. It is sweet and juicy and mild. Yumm. Well thank you for you're determination. A couple years ago I lived very close to Wendy’s. I happened to try their fish sandwich and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The drive thru gal told me it was only available during Lent, so I went every couple days to get it, it was that good!!

Culvers has an amazing fish sandwich (cod). Big filet with great crunch & a lot of flavor. You really don’t “need” the shredded lettuce & shredded cheese, but they don’t hurt the flavor profile at all. Also available as a 2 or 3 piece fish filet dinner with sides (no bun).

Thanks for reviewing most of the fish sandwiches available! I don't understand putting cheese on a fish sandwich, but to each their own. I've enjoyed the Arby's Crispy Fish a few times lately as you can't beat 2 for $6! I'd probably have them more often, but the nearest Arby's is 8+ miles away while Culver's, McD's and Burger King are all withing a couple miles. At Culver's, I get the two piece fish meal as 3 is one too many for me. Curious about the Popeye's fish sandwich. A local restaurant has a Friday Fish and Chips special with Fries, Curly Fries or Tots and coleslaw for $10. It's pretty yummy! I should just get a box of beer-battered Cod filets at Costco, a bag of Brioche buns and make my own at home...

It's always been a popular stop in the NYC and Philly areas. I see they have locations in Las Vegas and they have a fish sandwich too. Check it out.
