Retired plumber here. The best way to repair a push button toilet is... ...replace the whole bog with one with a syphon and a lever! The Lecico 'Atlas' range is one to try. Just make sure your plumber blanks off the hole in the syphon with an M8 stainless nut and bolt to give you the full flush every time and fit a proper metal lever if it comes with the composite aluminum and plastic one (which will otherwise break very quickly).

I can’t just lift off the cistern cover without removing the buttons and undoing a screw below. Is this a different model?

Yes an older one.

@ Thanks, but that should have been explained. I can imagine people trying to wrench of the lid without knowing that there may be a screw holding it down.

Could this be a fix for a toilet that may be letting air in the system. When flushing I get a loud clunk from a cold water tap and a small amount of mount pushes out. Then afterward I get a judder when opening the same cold water tap up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
@seanbutler8781Ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. I have push system like the one you have repaired how do I make the flush more powerful ? I have to flush at least twice every time.

Put a proper 1940's high on the wall proper reservoir/chain toilet in that actually reliably does the business! I HATE the 21st century - everything is rubbish! Don't start me on banks, music, Audi snobs, TV, ads on 300 channels all the time all with 'gers in, lying yanks killing our chocolate and making their loyal makers redundant, water extorsion/boss's plus a government hell bent on killing off pensioners/small business's while massively rewarding railway 'workers' and 'I'm not in this week' doctors in the Seychelles!
@dereton33Ай бұрын
Not possible with there rubbish flush power. You can try raising the level of water up to the overflow pipe inside though.

Is it true the rubber in those flexi pipes tend to burst after say a number of years ? Also does that Amazon link for this washer still work I couldn't find it 😢
@dereton33Ай бұрын
So they say but I have had no problems with them. Yes the link should work I just put it up.
@6581punkАй бұрын
They can fail if they rub against something. What happens is if there's too much slack in the flexi pipe, when there's water flowing they can move about. I had this on my bathroom sink the flexi rubbed on the rod for the sink plug lifter. It started to bulge because the braid had worn and then was spraying water through a pin hole. I caught it just in time.

Our Syphon is knackered ( have had to put a bleach bottle top to make it work ) and the plastic shiny buttons have come loose. Is it just a case of twisting it out and replacing a new one. If I send you a photo can direct me to the correct size and syphon I need please.

I have a cistern with a spit chrome button push-button. It's very similar to the one you show. Mine is made by Duravit. My problem is that the cistern lid will not lift off. It's as if it's locked down to the body by the buttons. I watched your earlier (longer) video - unfortunately it too doesn't show how to get the lid off. What's the method of taking the lid off?
@dereton3326 күн бұрын
There is a hidden screw under one of the buttons.

I didn't mistakenly do it I deliberately did to see how many of you realised. You see there was nothing wrong with my flusher valve (syphon) I was just showing you what to do.

I have one of these types of toilet, the problem I have is when I push the flush button it flushes normally, but the water doesn't refill normally, it just drip fills, it does refill eventually and doesn't leak anywhere, it just takes ages to refill, what is the problem and fix for this situation?
@dereton33Ай бұрын
Check your ballafix valve is fully open. check the valve float is dropping in the cistern. Check you have the right seating in the valve. check the valve is not blocked with debris.
@willswomble7274Ай бұрын
I nominate these for the worst, most annoying ever design for a WC! Please will builders go back to a separate, high, reservoir and pull chain as in the 1940's which also, happily, actually got rid of the s^^t! That would stop my other half moaning at me daily! Or simply a hole in the floor (if you love the French).
