It's said in game canon, that you can tell how evil a Ansatsuken user is by how dark their Hadoken fireballs are, as you can, Evil Ryu's are darker than Akuma's, which means he's fallen further under the Satsui No Hado than Akuma has.

@indepoodeli Its the sign kanji 天. It is seen when Akuma does his Raging Demon attack (Wrath of The Raging Demon or Demon Armageddon). As for Evil Ryu, the reason why the kanji 天 is carved on his back either 2 things. 1. This is a reference to a scene in the Ryu Final manga, in which Ryu is almost killed in his final battle against Akuma, in which Akuma punched through Ryu’s chest. Or 2. it is presumed that he was defeated or perhaps even killed in a battle with an unknown opponent.

The hole appears to be an injury from Oni's Meido Gohado, as the attack hits the opponent in the center of the chest and explodes from the back in the shape of the kanji 天.

Well close, ONI did his first Ultra combo on regular Ryu, if you notice the FULL Animation of Oni's first Ultra combo, it literally blasts through the persons chest and out the back going into 6 directions which explains the scars on his back and they way they're positioned as well. Ryu, most likely near death, has to choice but to release said Hado to stay alive. But remember this is just a guess. Evil Ryu and Oni are more of a "What If" factor. They never actually go this way in the real story

According to the Street Fighter Alpha series, Sagat, the defending champion, crushed Ryu, and then extended his hand to help Ryu up after thinking that he had won. Ryu was so consumed with the desire to win that he gave into the Satsui no Hado ("Evil Intent" or "Dark Hadou" in the American version), and executed a Metsu Shoryuken, scarring Sagat's chest.

There is a purified form of Ryuu. But it's not in the game. It's an anime only thing so far. Wether not it'll be introduced in the games is yet to be seen

I think Ryu in the next Street Fighter game (Street Fighter 5) isn't evil in the next because in the official trailer Ryu uses his ultra as "DINJI HADOKEN" in the gameplay trailer. That's my theory of Ryu overcoming the dark hado.

The hypothetical path that Ryu walks down. What if he DID succumb to the Satsui No Hado......? First: WHOA. Dude's acting so much like Akuma now its borderline ripping him off..... I'm seeing a few differences here between this and regular Ryu. Obvious Akuma references aside, Evil version seems slower and hits harder, plus is hadoukens either look like ACTUAL FIREBALLS or blasts of Dark Energy.
