In saying that PD leaves a border all the way around the mouth I have seen this not to be true for many of us in the upper lip area. It often starts from the top lip and sometimes dries the lips out too.

Thank you for sharing your experience. As you point out, skin conditions can have a variety of ways that they present and it is important to keep an open mind about what might be causing any issue on the skin.

@@DrJohnBarbieri I'd really like to the know the cause for me as it's so hard to figure out! I definitely know what exacerbates things once they've started but eliminating the issue is very challenging. We have a large group of us online and we all seem so different in what works and doesn't work, what triggers and what doesn't.

Hi, is there any correlation with cortisone injections and perioral dermatitis? I’ve been struggling with it for months and have been through different medications, and now that I’ve watched this video I’ve just remember I went through the second cycle of cortisone injections for tendinitis treatment when I started developing it.

Any steroid exposure can trigger perioral dermatitis (though most classically it is topical steroids on the face, inhaled steroids, or oral steroids). Local steroid exposures (e.g. injecting a tendon or skin lesion) are less likely to have a systemic effect, but they do have some systemic absorption.

I am treating very mild Periocular dermatitis around my eyes and have reduced my skincare regime to SPF and water cleaning only. How long should I wait to expect results? I read six weeks seems reasonable. I've also been dealing with itchy eyes and some eye watering at the corners of my eyes. So, I am not sure if my dermatitis is due to allergies or skincare products I previously used.

For patients with perioral dermatitis, often improvement is noted within a month or two once a good treatment plan is established.
