I'm very selective about what goes on my acne prone face, and oddly, I never really found a moisturizer that suited my skin type until this litttllextra riceberry face moisturizer. I can say my facial skin is improving with this. It doesn't react with my skin (indeed, my skin is very sensitive). Also, I am fond of the consistency of this moisturizer, it has a calming, light feeling that is not sticky. The texture is so thin yet moisturizing. Sometimes, I even apply it on my lips to feel the hydration. I truly wish they produce bigger tubes for this moisturizer because I've already used multiple tubes. I really hope they create larger tubes.

Have you ever tried Onyx - Hard as Hoof Nail Strengthening Cream? You have to be consistent but, it has done wonders for my nails. I’ve had to file my nails to keep them from getting too long…that never happened before. I keep a jar near me at all times. On Amazon a 1oz jar is $7.80. Note….I buy the individual jars not the packs as the pricing is more expensive in the packs. Just thought I’d mention when I saw your comment.😊

One of the characteristics of very dry skin that people without dry skin seem to not get is that moisture on the skin gets absorbed pretty soon. Products that may appear to be greasy or too rich or too shiny get absorbed and the shine goes away. A favorite facial moisturizer for me is the JapanFusion moisturizer from Beauty Pie. It might be too much for non dry skin people, but it is wonderful for me and the cost is manageable.

Hi Dr Sam I have extremely dry skin head to toe with both rosacea and eczema. I'm also 50 and fully menopausal living in Scotland - dry dry dry dry dry. My favourite day cream is the Paula's choice clinical ultra rich moisturiser, as although rich/buttery when first applied it sinks into my skin allowing for application of spf, yet still keeps the skin feeling comfortable all day. At night it's not enough though and I use a body moisturiser. Whilst I like the LRP Lipikar shown and have used that on face/neck/chest overnight, my favourite is the Paula's choice soothing body butter. It's similar to the clinical ultra rich moisturiser I use during the day, but even richer (although it sinks into my skin within around 20 minutes) and at double the size of tube for less money I can slather on more generously. Neither of these pill or ball up with more water based toners, essences and serums underneath btw. I don't use the Bioderma due to the fragrance, but the Avene zerocalm oil wash is very similar and fragrance free (Uriage also makes a fragrance free version of the Bioderma shown). Super dry skin really benefits from a urea moisturiser and I use the Altruist 10% urea moisturiser during the day on the body - it's not greasy and sinks in well allowing for spf application. For a night time shower I would apply a rich fatty moisturiser over it for added moisture eg doublebase flare relief or cetraben etc. I also use a SVR 30% urea cream on elbows, knees and feet under a richer cream (high strength urea moisturisers tend to be sticky when applied alone as it's a sticky ingredient). When my eczema is really flaring I wet wrap my limbs using Epaderm (a mix of white and yellow soft paraffin with mineral oil) over a moisturiser - works great, but makes a mess of the sheets and is only for a couple of days of treatment. Cotton gloves and socks can really help with sore, cracked, eczema flared skin on hands or feet without making such a mess lol. I have had lifelong eczema and these are what work for me. The cica moisturiser from Laneige has fragrance and isn't anywhere near as rich as the Paula's choice picks noted above (I do like their cream skin toner/essence though and it's a staple for me). Best wishes.

It's amazing how water and climate can change your skin type. I am currently in the mountains and my skin is much dryer. Creams that might feel heavy at home are barely moisturizing here. I am using the cica night mask and to be honest I find it to be very average at best. I will finish the sample size but wouldn't repurchase.

Purito cica sleeping pack ( light-to-medium weight moisturiser) is my recent winter fav. Love LRP Lipikar AP+ as well. LRP just reformulated it to be lighter and without mineral oil. I am taking a while to get used to the new formula, especially on the hands and feet. I prefer the old thicker formula for my hands and feet because the product stayed through multiple hand washes. But the new lighter formula is good for face and rest of the body. The new pump is hard to use though, but maybe new one helps to get to bottom of the lotion bottle. Old pump dispensed better, but wasn't long enough to get all the product out.

I love using rosehip oil morning and evening before my moisturizer. I tend to get dry skin due to my tretinoin (currently increasing usage) and the rosehip oil helps a ton. I really love how it lays so well under sunscreen, too. I have a lot of drying sunscreens and instead of pitching them, putting the oil under seems to help a lot.

Oil should always go after your moisturizer because it’s an occlusive, it locks in the moisture.
@Joannabanana19892 жыл бұрын
Colleen I follow Dr. Dray’s advice about oil. She is another youtube derm but recommends using oil first and then the moisturizer to lock in the oil. Makes more sense to me personally and I have had success with this method. You should try it out! It makes my dry skin go away.

Hi Doctor Ellis, i'm using Tretinoin 0.1% to help treat my hollow under eye because it helps boost collagen. The thing is the tretinoin prescription of 0.1 is very aggressive for my skin, but i want to stick it out so my eyes will be a bit less hollow. My question is does Tretinoin help even out hollow eyes or does the boosting of collagen in it not strong enough to add back the fat i've lost from using Latisse? I only just turned 30 and i noticed my eyes hollow from using Latissee for a year. Please let me know, if i should stick with this strong strength of tretinoin to help my hollow eyes or should i consider fillers/fat transfer instead. Thank you!

Fruit of the Earth brand …. They carry body lotions in shea butter, vitamin b/e, aloe, and cocoa butter. I’ve been using their Aloe version since 2001 and loving it. For me, it’s not greasy, sticky, tacky or oily. On my skin, it last all day and my skin feels hydrated. I’m a dude with dry skin. It has a very light fragrance, which last for about 10 minutes 🥴. The brand is also cheap but hard to find. The ONLY place I could it, on Amazon my…. I USED to buy it at Duane Reade drugstore. It’s not a popular brand but has some effective body lotions.

Cerave Moisturizing Cream has petroleum as an ingredient so in a way it’s already like your last recommendation of mixing Vaseline with your moisturizer. That’s honestly why it’s my holy grail and the only thing that heals my eczema. But I am wanting something more cosmetically elegant so I’ll try the La Roche Posay Lipikar option for both my face and body. I’m just nervous of breakouts and feeling sticky with heavy lotions but then lightweight ones aren’t enough.

With Vaseline/petroleum - since it’s a type of moisture lock/barrier cream that just sits on the surface of the skin, doesn’t mixing it with your moisturiser (instead of applying your moisturiser first and giving it a few minutes to absorb) stop your skin from being able to absorb and reap the benefits of your moisturiser?

I have sensitive allergy prone skin and I started mixed essential oil with jojoba, argon oil and vitamin E. If I get some itchy rash or infection I put a few drops of clove in it but otherwise I mix frankincense with a little lavender and jasmine to make it smell pretty. It is work, so I was looking for something on days when I don’t feel like doing it. I use similar combo of oils on face and body. I use clove on the occasional pimple as well. I also dab a bit of organic toothpaste on pimples at night before I go to bed and it clears up the pimple or at least brings deep ones to a head by morning. Just thought I’d throw my natural info in here. It works but I need something for lazy days too.
