I've used a product with 2% hydroquinone on and off for several years and I've never had any issues with it. I don't use it every single day for an extended period of time. Just long enough to fade my old acne scars and then wear sunscreen. For those who are heavy-handed on products and then cry when it's gone wrong, remember too much of a good thing is still too much.

Dear all, you can use some alternatives to hydroquinone such as alpha arbutine mixed with 4 % of kojic acid, tranexamid acid mixed with niacinamide, and azelaic acid and niacinamid. you can use any of those pairs if you are resistant to HQ or cannot stand its possible irritating side effects. hope my comments will be any good for the people with hyperpigmentation issues. 😃 Regards, Andre Anugrah

wow. thank god its safe. i only use hydroquinone to cure my acne. and this is the only product that really works for me.. my skin is really oily and had clog proes that causes acne.. but by using hydroquinone it exfoliate my skin, with in two weeks my skin clearingup and with in 1 month my acne are almost gone.. it doesn't give me a irritation or redness but.. a little bit burning but after it dries its gone. i use it twice a day morning and night.. who ever had some acne try to use products with hydroquinone try it it might work for you especially for those oily skin the product i used is maxipeel you can buy it on amazon or ebay.. it has 2% hydroquinone and its a water base find some review too about the product.. it really works...

I have used hydroquinone off and on for years. I switched to Obagi several years ago, but it is just too expensive. I am returning to hydroquinone. As with any FDA drug testing, evaluation can be excessive and not relevant to human use. I have centrofacial lentiginoses (excessively dark pigmented areas only on the left side of my face). If I use hydroquinone consistently, it does work and I feel better about myself and have more self confidence.

I use it all over my face and under the eyes as well. Just be very careful not to get any inside the eye or rub them if you have not wash your hands. It is a bleaching agent so it is strictly meant for external use only. It should give you results. Just keep in mind, it takes time to work and I am currently on my 6th month of using a Hydroquinone cocktail (from my Dermatologist) and it was over 3mths/twice a day before I started to see mild results. Im impressed with it and it has worked for me!

I am on my 6th month of using Hydroquinone (as per my dermatologist) to correct some hyperpigmentation on my face and the results are pretty good. I would recommend you see a Dermatologist (if you can) or at least a licensed Pharmacist before trying any type of Hydroquinone product. Im almost certain you could see results from it though, however it won't completely remove your freckles but rather diminish their appearance and even out your skin tone. Im using a 4% cocktail with some Kojic (2%).

@Monatee you should definitely NOT put hydroquinone anywhere around the eyes. Even this pro-hydroquinone doctor says that it can cause a small amount of irritation - you do not want it near your eyes.

I wouldn't recommend using it on your lips. This is a skin bleaching agent along with some acid based materials. The skin on your lips tends to be much thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your face. What you could try though is using some lemon slices or fresh juice. Lemon is known for it's ability to lighten problem areas and it's natural. Just remember to use a lip moisturizer during the course as lemons/juice can be quite drying.

Summary . 2 and 4% b is safe and could buy in stores. Higher you need to go to a dermatologist or doctor. But 6 and 8% could harm.skin :) help with removal of dark spots on face. Can be use on other skin not just face. (Take about 1-3 to work) if no difference do not continue use. It's a safe cream.

It depends. I used a product with hydroquinone for 13 years worked wonders for my skin then I stopped using it wanted to use natural products. Well my face didn't turn dark. But what I regret till today is I wish I never stopped using it in the first place. I switched to aloe vera and when I tried going back to using hydroquinone it started burning my face. Which is very weird. That's why I regret it. My advice to you is. If it's working well for you. Stick to it for the rest of your life. I wish I knew.

Well I’m very fair skinned African woman. During my menopause phase liver spots on my face. Consulted two different ‘experts’ a dermatologist and a beautician. They both recommends hydroquinone and after the first night I woke up to my face being WORSE than ever. They advices me to continue and apply the cream once instead of twice. NOTHING HELPED. IT ACTUALLY MADE THINGS WORSE. I stopped went to see the beautician who acted dumber than ever ..... according to her she’s never seen such reaction. So be careful what you apply on your face. And btw my one was a proscribed one. I did peaking which helped and I’m still trying to get the dark spots off. To my surprise potatoes helped me more than anything that I’ve been trying. 👀. I just take a slice in the evening and run it on my face. No juicing it or anything. TRY IT. you never know.

Be that as it may, what is not being said it that, it (hydroquinone) also makes one more susceptible to UV rays and UV light. We all know what that can lead to. This is not a one size fits all approach. If you have a family history of any form of cancer, metaphorically run for the hills from this.
