Thank you for the upload! Does a lyrical version of Universal Culture Shock exist? Or has this always been a strictly instrumental song?

that look on his face at 2:39 when the riff comes back to him… still got it! some things you just can’t forget. what a riff. i remember being so stumped trying to find the right chords for the slide riff before the bridge, incredible to see how far off i was - i never would have guessed that he harmonized chords because the riff is so clean in the recording. the main riff after the kill riff is still one of my favorites, i call it the “beer drinking riff” hahahaha love to see and hear it. these songs changed my life for the better and always bring back good memories of simpler times

Deron Miller is one of my all time favorite guitar players. His four CKY albums are masterpieces, and I think I may even likes his Foreign Objects riffs more sometimes. Test It Out is just ridiculous. I've been playing in a crappy just for fun band since I was 18 (am now 29), we do rock covers and some originals. A lot of ween actually. I got my bones playing Frusciante stuff, love funk and all rock in general. My point being people always get taken aback how much I love to play any Deron riff (because it doesn't fit in the mold of what we usually play). Screw thinking you have to present yourself in a confined genre playing guitar. I think learning all different types of genres makes you such a better player. I will play The Meters, Hendrix, Zeppelin, The Strokes(just adding indie rock in here) you name it, but I fucking love, I repeat I fucking love busting out CKY and playing his riffs. I noticed later in life playing with other guitar players how strong my pinky was playing his riffs, and also my picking and power sliding. I hope I don't like a douche I'm just trying to highlight the lessons I learned playing CKY. When I play Deron riffs, I constantly think to myself how much I improved in so many different facets of guitar. The time I spent trying to perfect his insane pinky stretching riffs (lol he is ridiculous with those) really made an impact. Sitting here typing this I was just practicing Dressed in Decay. An Answer Can be Found is the black sheep of the four Deron CKY albums but guitar wise, has some of my favorite riffs. Love this community. Hate fucking downtuning when I get in the mood though

James Murphy, one Deron’a heroes, remastered and recorded solos over old demos and Deron recorded vocals over many of the tracks that would be released as the UCS album in 2004. the demos were all instrumentals, some appearing in the earlier CKY films, others appearing on limited CKY (band) releases like volume 2 and the disengage demo. some of these can still be found on youtube and i know there is a small subset of diehards who retain copies of the demos to this day.
