The judge must be a pdf literally read out his prior convictions and he had sexually assaulted a child now he's killed one by leaving drugs laying around wouldn't be surprised if he gave it to the kid sounds like an absolute peace of crap that should of been sentenced to a lot longer or at least had everything run consecutive

Obviously some people have not been through addiction themselves or else they would not be commenting the way they are. I understand exactly what you're saying. I have a little over 80 days clean. 99 out of 100 times I used , I begged for it to stop. Did my kids deserve to have a mother with an addiction problem, 100% No! Do I regret much of my life, YES! If I could go back and change it I would. It is impossible for someone to understand your point if they haven't suffered from the same disease.

Its something that has power over you like hunger. You can only go so long without eating...imagine when you got hungry you started getting flu like symptoms except worse and the hungrier you got the worse it gets. Ive been battling fentanyl addiction for 9 years now. I'm 1 month clean. It took getting locked up to get clean.

Considering the lack of character of Derrick and his past criminal actions (second degree sexual assault of a child) I’d be harsh. He killed his toddler from not giving an f. Thirteen years is a slap on the wrist. Woefully lenient.

The courts do not care one bit about women or children. It has been proven over and over and over with the lenient sentencing. They will have other children and be the same way they were before. This judge is disgusting. If it was his grandchild would he still have gotten 13 years. I think NOT!!!

A judge studies for 4 years to get a bachelors degree. Then studies to take the LSAT, likely more than once. Then they go to law school for another 4 years. Then to become a lawyer they have to pass the BAR. Then they practice as a lawyer for decades, finally they are appointed to be a judge. What makes you think you know more than him about sentencing? The way you type id be surprised if you even had a college degree.

We all got choices. Take it from someone who sold and used for 25 years. And every day of those 25 years I chose to do what I was doing. Just like I chose to stop. Nobody forced me to use ,sell, or quit. I made those decisions. Just like I chose to never smoke cigarettes. And those are more readily available then heroine/fentanyl.

This judge lost all credibility as soon as he called the defendant a “good person”. WTF? By this standard, I would love to hear the judge define for us a “bad person”. He’s not fit to judge a 1983 wet T-shirt contest during Spring Break at Fort Lauderdale! RETIRE, judge. You’ve lost the plot.

There are "GOOD" people that does bad things and there are BAD people that does good things. There's some good in the worst of us, and there's some bad in the best. So, how can you say that this judge is wrong for seeing some good in a person who has done something wrong?

I like this judge. He didn't just give a sentence, but a heart felt lecture. A lesson I'm hoping the defendant will always reflect on. Great job judge.

13 Years is is an insane sentence for his crime. Aith good time he'll be free in 6. I love that Judges compassion and all he said was spot on. His sentence unfortunately was not. I stopped watching after I read the sentence if you wanna call it a sentence

They are legally required by law to give the reasons and the laws for the sentence being given out. I think that’s something recent that they made mandatory because of a different case I don’t know, but I know they have to explain and give a statement at sentencing now.
