I auditioned for Derringer’s band at SIR studio in the summer of 1977. Myron Grumbacher (playing here) got the gig. Getting to play with Rick and Kenny Aronson was one of the highlights of my life, lol! He’s an incredible musician and Kenny Aronson was just an off the charts killer bass player!

Ha! I was there too. Yeah, Derringer played a really good show ( and that was mainly why I went) having said that, Sammy Hagar absolutely stole the show! I still remember him sitting on the edge of the stage with a little Fender steel guitar playing the intro to Bad Motor Scooter. After he played the intro, he jumped up and threw the steel guitar about twenty feet to a roadie standing in the wings. Boston didn’t have a good night, their sound system was awful and you couldn’t make out a thing…at least from where we were sitting.

Got turned on by Johnny winter and album in 1968 by my older brother. I was 10! Lol I never looked back after that. My goodness what an amazing life changing blues rock live album. Rick is on fire on it. Saw them many times as I grew. Got heavy into Johnny. Was blessed to see Johnny and Muddy Waters at a small club on long island in 1979 called my father's place. Holy crap! It was recorded live on the radio back then. Found it on KZbin recently. What a memory burn. I'm on there screaming out Johnny!!!! I'm 66 and still blasting it all. Let's not forget Rick on Edgar Winter roadwork album. Absolutely brilliant. How lucky we are to have lived then to witness these Masters of music. Rock on!🤟🤟

This is the worst recording of Rock and roll hoochie Koo I've ever heard in my life this must have been when they were on the decline in the '80s playing small venues and didn't have any equipment left because even playing small live venues you can separate your voice out a little better than this for a live recording and makes it a little bit better than this I mean it's always going to sound kind of crappy but this is really bad

If you listen carefully, problem with this performance is the drums. The drummer’s all over the place in keeping consistent time. They mix is also terrible, no bass. My opinion of Derringer is that he himself always played intuitively, bizarre talent. lord knows what musical language he’s playing the solo in, maybe “deaf”. The rest of the band, they’re not together
