Derringer was notorious for blowing the headliners off the stage. A critic in st. Louis said it best during a led zepplin review. The first night the people came to see Zepplin the second night they came to see Derringer. The best live hard rock act of the 70s. No one mention Derringers inflence on EVH, but he was doing eddie before eddie was

Visiting this legend again in 2022, and this legendary song, almost 50 years later. Saw these guys in 1976ish a couple times. The ripping lead style of Rick never ceases to amaze me. He learned some of it from Johnny Winter--- you can hear that style in his playing. I'm gonna learn the basic guitar riff but the rest of it will remain a mystery.

Cool connections between Rick Derringer; Neil "Spider" Geraldo used to play guitar in one of the Derringer band line ups. This drummer in this video post; Myron Grombacher obviously played with Derringer too (although it was Vinnie Apice who played on the great Derringer Live album. Both Neil and Myron played with Pat Benatar on all of her really big hits. Neil and Pat have been married for over thirty years now. Fun little fact.

@@MrMojabo Because I first became aware of Rick Derringer from his song ROCK & ROLL HOOCHIE KOO - I didn't realize that this was the same guy that did HANG ON SLOOPY with his band, as a teenager. Thanks to KZbin, I've been able to listen to the McCOY'S later albums (also JOHNNY WINTER AND), and they were really great. Unfortunately, Rick is the only one that didn't end up a 'Rock & Roll Casualty' like his brother Randy, Bassist Randy Jo Hobbs or their keyboardist, Bobby Peterson.

@@carljacobson7156 The original keyboardist for the successful McCoys recordings and tour was Ronnie Brandon. He became a successful businessman and is living a great retirement!
