Was up there yesterday lad showed us a pic of. 20lb pike he caught off dam wall. Last year.. not much got caught part from 1 jack. Well worth a visit just started fly fishing im a keen sea angler but had my head turned to fly

@@leefletcher660 it’s probably the worst place to fly fish, just too big and sometimes hard to find the fish. You should try Knitsley Mill near Consett or Sharpley Springs near Seaham if you want to catch a few!

The Pike in there are getting bigger every time I see a video on KZbin and that one was a belter - nice one, man.

@@pondguru thank you! Must admit, it surprised me to get one in double figures, (especially on light Trout gear!😲). There’s huge amount of fry for them to feed on, plus an odd trout, no doubt. They’ll keep growing and we’ll have a lot of 20 pounders in a few years time hopefully.🤞

@@LolsFishingAdventures 100% and they will be a sight to behold. As it's around 20 years since the parents went into the reservoir (I wouldn't know anything about that....) they will probably be gone by now but to see their offspring being caught and looking so beautiful is great to see. All the bait fish are creating a self sustaining ecosystem and it's great to see so many diverse fish species in there now. Years ago there was only stocked trout, a few wild trout and the very occasional grayling.

Apparently the pike were put in around lockdown time ,the bailiffs told me no one knows why or by whom

@@williamcosgrove9696 I find that hard to believe. Where do you find vast numbers of pike to transport secretly? Much more likely they got there via natural means in my opinion. Like you said, bailiffs don’t know who or why, they obviously don’t know for sure either way, these fish were there well before lockdown I reckon. Just my humble opinion. We shall never know for sure!

@@LolsFishingAdventures They were 100% there before 2020 and nobody has introduced masses of pike (or perch) in the reservoir - they bred naturally from a very small initial stocking, building up their numbers (and size) in line with the population of bait fish. Now that there is a fully sustainable food chain in the reservoir the pike are the top predators (other than fishermen, lol)

Well done LOL. They always say you shouldnt pack in early, cos you may just get the fish of a lifetime. Maybe it wasn't that but I wish I'd seen you catch it!
