For only 10.5 months of Chinese, it looks like you nailed it! You're an inspiration to us all!

Started watching this after Ronny Chieng mentioned it on the Mike Birbiglia podcast. Loving it so far! Always moving to see someone try to bridge two cultures. Well done, Des!

Haha, can't believe he was singing that song at the end, so funny. Really enjoyed this series, lived in Beijing for a couple of years and brought back lots of memories.

It's not so much language barriers as it is cultural barriers in comedy. My English-speaking German friend insisted he had a sense of humor, but sometimes I didn't recognize it, and vice versa due to our cultural differences. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and learned more about Chinese culture from a unique perspective - 1st hand experience.

Great watch, hen hao. I lived in China for a few years at the same time. I remember their comedy was very slap stick, Benny Hill like.

Dude! How do you only have 22k youtube subs?!? I was thinking it’d be millions and think it could/should be! You should do a “collab” with xiaomanyc… dude has 6M+ youtube subs and many speak Mandarin too! Everything of yours I’ve seen to date I’ve thoroughly enjoyed! I’m looking forward to ep 6 - and really think you should revisit this idea! Crediting the Camp Gagnon 2:40:12 interview you did that was posted on KZbin 9 mos. ago, otherwise I may not have found this. Good luck and hope you make it down to New Orleans at some point!!! Happy Holidays bro!

I managed a pub in HK in an off the track neighborhood and we hosted some great stand up comedians. That was about the same time period as this. But HK is another world from the mainland.

Hey Des, really entertaining show. Did you do the HSK test on your Chinese? If you can write everything you can speak in hats off to you!

Wow… the line that smacked me in the face. “It’s a formal gig. But ‘formal’ in Chinese directly translates as ‘not as good’ “. Very interesting

@@Desbishopcomedy do you have a list of all the muisc used in the series, there are some songs that played in the background that were difficult to find.
