Out of curiosity, which part of the song was the original four minute segment?
@klefftan83445 жыл бұрын
MShepherd88 most of the last 4-ish minutes of the song and the a bit of the intro I suppose (except no lyrics). It's quite hard to say considering they changed the layout a lot compared to the original 4 minute song.

Seeing it isolated like this, Justin's basslines aren't really that complex, but they always sound so huge and prominent in the context of the song, great player and really makes me wanna pick up a cheap bass so I can jam stuff like this.
@posic30733 жыл бұрын
Probably more difficult than you realize. I said the same thing and picked up the bass and had a hard time with the timing lol
@theflossydog18252 жыл бұрын
95% of the hard work is in being able to compose them from scratch. Playing them is just the fun part, same as Adam's parts.
@corvus_kay67552 жыл бұрын
@@posic3073 I`ve been playing bass since 2 and a half years and I am able to comfortably play The Pot, Schism, Aenima and I can somewhat play 10.000 Days and 46&2 ( I really only cannot play one part that seems to break my fingers). Not to say that you are bad, maybe I am a special case since I am really really dedicated to the instrument (for these years I`ve played about a hour every day). As someone commented here, its incredibly impressive to come up with such creative out of the box riffs and licks. However it also isn`t easy, it`s just also not super hard (to me, some might think overwise). The timing is often tricky but manageable in about a hour at least. Learning through listening and playing repeatedly has helped me a lot here.
@posic30732 жыл бұрын
@@corvus_kay6755 you sir or ma’am, have much experience! I am admittedly not that great haha but I can see your point very much so
@corvus_kay67552 жыл бұрын
@@posic3073 well thank you. I (he) really don't think it's that much of experience since a lot of people around me have been playing for far longer then I have, but I do seems to keep up, even with the huge time gap between some. There is still A LOT to learn for me

Saw this live for the first time hearing it. I want to teleport back now that I ve heard it like 50 times. Nice work. Love Justins bass work. this is probably my favorite tool song to play on bass, so far. I just picked up the bass last year (20 year guitar player) and there have been fun/favorite parts throughout like the breakdown in Rosetta Stoned, the entry to The Grudge, but so far this one has had my timing stumped for a bit, and it feels so good to finally get it right. No shade to Adam because his work on F.I. has taken a big leap, but the bass playing by Justin from 10kd to this album has been light years ahead, it could be because i'm new to bass though.
