Cool vid, I was an AVN tech from 2002 to 2014 in Greenwood in 413sqn Cormorant servicing. One of the first 6 AVN techs from Greenwood.

I was at 413 for a few years during that period. Good times.

I bet the nice thing with fog is that the air is dead calm
@mattfrom1032 ай бұрын
It actually was that morning, a pleasant treat. Unfortunately it's St John's, Newfoundland (CYYT) and that is not normally the case. It is normal for it to be that foggy but still windy. At the time of writing this comment it is currently between 1/4SM and 1/8SM with winds around 15G25KTS. Reason is that it's not actual fog but usually cloud that happens to be hitting the ground.

So cool - Do you need to call minimums?
@mattfrom1032 ай бұрын
Absolutely. It's pretty scripted in our books what needs to be said, when it needs to be said, and what needs to happen on an approach. 'minimums' is one of those calls that needs to be made.

Just say the focus nearby was done for the extra foggy atmosphere. Nice clip! Don't have a GoPro but I think they focus on what they think is important or maybe you can use a setting so it really takes the center point of the view.

I got a newer one recently so I will have to play with it some more.

What forward airspeed do you need to maintain ?
@mattfrom1032 ай бұрын
Great question. The min speed to fly IMC is 60kts. On such an approach, the last half would normally be flown at around 65kts or so. Once over the runway although we could touch down at up to 60kts ground speed we generally slow down to 30kts ground speed.

Parking is the dangerous part.

It's not too bad to be honest. Just follow the yellow line. Foreflight on the iPad has also greatly made things easier. I think I have some footage of taxiing across the entire airport, I will try to past it later when I stich it all together into a video.
