Wrong explanation.... It is not right to modify the story according to your understanding. You should just narrate what written on original texts. 60000 son of Sagar digged at Jambudipa, by that wholes Ganga goes to Patal Loka.... That is why Tides happen. Ganga is falling on Mount Meru and after divide into for rivers it mixed with water sorroundin Jambudipa. One part of Ganga also falling on our Himalayas on request of Bhagirath to cleanse all souls of earth while going to Patal Loka. Earth is flat and stationary plane.
