NOTE: I'm frequently asked about the example at 18:10, and why there isn't line of sight to the spider. The LOS can't cross anything, including the target model itself (I know that's odd, but that's how it goes). So before getting to that back right corner of the spider, it would cross through the spider itself, so line of sight is considered blocked.
@sababezhashvili5983 жыл бұрын
At 18:02, Lorick still has line of sight on the spider - Draw a line from lower left corner of Lorick to lower right corner of the spider. The line will exactly pass both corners of the obstacles.
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
@@sababezhashvili598 Please read the comment you are replying to more thoroughly, you are missing that the Line of Sight cannot pass through ANYTHING, including the target itself. To get to that bottom right corner of the spider's space, it would have to pass through the spider itself, which is not allowed.

This is how game reviews should be conducted. Show people how the game is set up and played, let them make their determinations. No judgments, just the facts of the games and conducted in a very polite and friendly manner. Also, I felt this was much more streamlined than the instructions. Watch it Played will be my go to for any game considerations and instructions now on.

+Watch It Played You're welcome. :-) Explaining the rather complicated rules while not shying away from the corner cases is not a small feat. The amount of planning and preparation put into the tutorial pays off. I can imagine you would be able to properly explain, say, Magic: the Gathering to a newbie. Not many can pull that off without either causing confusion or omitting all the corner cases - or both.

Made it through in one go. Personally when I teach others how to play a game, I like to start with the goal/objective/method of winning and be clear about it but to each his own.
@WatchItPlayed11 жыл бұрын
That's a very solid strategy and I almost always followed that, but I've changed my method over time. I'm now trying to define 'some' of the game terms first so that when you describe the objective the player has a context for what the objective means. "Trade goods with fief lords to secure the highest rank in the kings court" could be pretty confusing as a game objective if you don't really know what any of the terms mean or the role you are playing in the game. Not disagreeing with you - just sharing my thinking on this.

I've been wanting to get into D&D with some friends of mine, but since I'm the only one with any real experience with it that meant I'd have to DM...not ready for that. So I started looking up alternatives to a tabletop fantasy RPG game and found Descent! This video is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find. VERY informative, straight to the point, easy to understand, clear and concise. Now I just need to save up the dough to get the game! It's a lot more than I was hoping a "board game" (hopefully I don't trigger anyone with that term lol) would be. But I'm now more excited than before to get it! Thanks so much for the video!

Funny fact: Being a Russian speaker I have a Russian language copy of Descent 2 , read manual in Russian, watched how to play in Russian, but still refer to Rodney's excellent videos for rules clarification)))

Hi Rodney! My brother just bought Descent and told our group he ain't gonna play it with anyone who hasn't read the rules! Can you believe him? Alright alright, you know what? I'm gonna watch all your Descent videos and then I'm gonna read the manual and then I'm gonna be one heck of an Overlord! Well, thank you for your videos. You made me buy LOTR LCG. C ya

Glad we were here to help. I don't blame your brother, a good way to ensure everyone is invested in the gameplay :)

***** Yes, indeed!! Thanks for replying! Today I saw your "Pathfinder Adventure Card Game" video. I'm almost buying this one... but I'm not sure it's going to be as much fun as LOTR LCG... which is my favourite. I'm also considering Mage Knight. Many many reviews saying this is the best solo-adventure game... Anyway, nice talking to ya. Cheers!

I saw stats for the main characters in this game for use of those minis within Zombicide: Black Plague. Glad to see your video. It makes me look at the game for its own viability as well. Kudos.

Made it to the end! Great video, thanks so much. Hoping there's more tutorials for campaigns, expansion play, etc.

Well done :) There is a video at the end of the game play series that talks about the campaign. We don't go into the expansions (we don't tend to cover expansions on the show).

My friend has just got this game and we're going to get together and play it over the weekend. I read the rule book but thanks to your very well explained video I could get a much clearer view of the game and could relate better to what the rule book states. Thanks alot for your videos and keep it up :D
