for me, its so good to see the young generations take such a keen interest in those old time warriors of the rails. these old locos have become such a worthy icon now in this modern area. just like the steam locos that went before them. there is nothing around today that fills the air with sound quite a well as a class37. have you heard these old locos running through the valleys approaching from a far distance over the warm summer night air. there engines working hard echoing all around the countryside greeting you with there unique sound as they pass by through the misty night air. magnificent locos!

As part of the youth, I can confirm we enjoy. I get made fun of sometimes but you just have to ignore it. Still havent seen any 37s in actual service yet either sadly

Great video, nice to see the young enthusiasts getting as much of these fine machines while they are still around.👍

The bizarre thing is that, until recently, these 37s were due to be fitted with ETCS digital signalling!

Nice loco's and one of the best most successful 1960s locomotives ever built as they outlived any other class as they should be in the Guinness book of records for it! you cannot mistake the sound of a tractor engine as you can hear one coming from over a mile away they sound even better on a windy night when it carries the sound more!!! Nice video 👏👏👏😍🤩🥰

I was more of a wistler man living on WCML. The boat train to Holyhead comes to mind, but I relly looked forward the tripple header 37 that came though Cardiff Central (on coal wagons?) on a Saturday back in the '70 when I was spotting. That said I see, love and miss all diesels in the same way that the steam guys do those and no doubt we all lament their passing. Fortunately ther are still a few classes around as well as the preserved loco's for me to reminisce. Thanks for another chance.

Fantastic video, as many have said it's great to see so many teenagers taking an intererest in these locos. I'd love to know why, obvious I know, the 37s are awesome machines, but seriously I'm genuinely interested to know the origins of their passion - maybe a future video topic for you.

Ipswich used to have diagrams where 4 would go out together with a 47 light to Felixstowe for F/L duties. One of the most uncomfortable locos ever driven, but they were reliable and would always get you there 👍

Nice footage! Great to see Europhoenix taking them on for continued service. As others have commented, also good to see so many young spotters taking phots and video of these classic machines. They have to be the very best of all the 1960’s BR Modernisation Plan designs and English Electric created a classic engine to fit them - the magnificent 12CSVT, which just sounds amazing.

As a kid of the 60s I lived next to 2 rail lines 1 top ran class 56 with purple tints stockport - crewe Bottom line ran stone Buxton - Liverpool class 37s.. They used to shake the house.. Plus we lived right under the manchester flight path.. Let's say the 70's were a loud exiting time from dc8 707, concorde 🤩

Late 80's I think they did 37/9's with the Mirrlees & Ruston in. Like a trial for a Class 38 that never happened. They had more ballast in them, which made them have good hauling capabilities.
