Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). The surface artifacts that are found in the southwest go back at least 10,000 years to the days of the wooley mammoth. At least in the more recent times, like a thousand years ago, they were farmers in that hot dry area. Amazing.

The road to Lake Powell you were talking about is not for the faint hearted. Wash board dirt,switchbacks galore and no garden rail. It goes up a wall. Butiful views, can see forever. Enjoy.

I believe that the petroglyph at (3:03) was done at or about 1063 BCE. Someone afterwards destroyed it by by adding the / to the bottom right side of the O. It's incredible that the person whom scratched in the original "1063" had the foresight that we would go to a BC-AD system in distant future. Not to worry-5 hundred years from now people will see it "1963" and say wow that petroglyph is over 5 hundred years old and like it just the same.

It was fun watching the stagecoaches run by the same place three or more times. But nobody cared. They were being chased by indians or bad guys. Man, you sure go to some way out there places, but if I were there I would do that also. It is always better when you have it to yourself. Nothing like having room to breathe. Did you notice the spiral petroglyph, that is a portal to who knows where. My friend got pictures of one opening up in Colorado on the horizon near some petroglyphs. I would send you the pictures if I knew where to send them to. Take care my friend and stay cool.

Hello Rick and Linda, thank you for sharing..! Do you use your home-made water filter system to process the water before you use it..?? I thought that video was really good...! BTW, although it appears your set-up is on bare rock (I notice piles of large rocks in the foreground impression at 13:50) , which has it's own challenges. When on desert ground, do you prep in and around your camp-site area by raking away any smaller rocks and/or debris for a more comfort under foot..??

Hello PJF! We never do prep a site except for picking up any trash we happen to see. The water filter we take along on our trips is the Sawyer filter with the one gallon bag because it fold up so small. We've never actually used it yet because we manage to get water from reliable sources. The filter we do use frequently is the carbon RV filter that removes bad taste because so many places have bad tasting water! That's the filter you can buy at Walmart that attaches to a hose. You'll find it in their RV section.

That "Angel Trumpet" is the legendary Old West's "Loco Weed". It's real name is Jimsonweed (Datura stramonium) and is also known by other names: Jamison-weed, Jamestown-weed, Jamestown lily, thorn-apple, stink-wort, stinkweed, mad-apple, trumpet plant, loco weed, angel’s trumpet, devil’s, fireweed, etc. and yes it is poisonous to humans at least, In the olden times whenever a horse would eat it, the horse was destroyed because he would become addicted and would not want to do anything. He would travel for miles looking for it. In 1995 in El Paso, Texas two high school boys made up a "brew" of boiled Jimsomweed root and mixed it with liquor and both died.

If you want rain you should see my last video I posted. We got over 7 inches in about an hour and the power was out again and raining to hard to start the Generator but again I had my 2 Bluetti's to hold me over until the rain let off. I can Travel just not as far in a day as I use to go. I can't do all the walking I want to do but I can still enjoy seeing what's close by.
