A lot of people kept saying Watson is another RG3 because they think he's a run first QB. If anyone who actually understands football & watches Watson plays, he is not a run first QB. There is a difference between running with the ball & scrambling to buy more time for things to open up. Deshaun Watson is a pocket passer that has the ability to run.

Tim Schröder at least he's only in yearone. Better to suffer an injury like that as a young man than to be 35.. At 35, that's a career ending injury. He just needs to develop his pocket game at this level. Even the corners and safeties can light your ass up. He also needs to slide when he runs. He'll learn. He's just used to being the best athlete on the field. In the NFL, that's not the case.

That touchdown run against the Bengals by Watson showed the kind of special poise and fearlessness by a young, 22 year old rookie QB. Right before that TD run, Watson was completely leveled by the 300 lb Geno Atkins. Most QBs in the NFL would be mentally shaken by it but Watson quickly recovered and on the next snap which happens to be a crucial 3rd & 15, rushed 49 yards for the TD Watson did not put up great numbers in that Bengals game but many people are forgetting that it was his 1st NFL start which happens to be on a short week. The Texans entered that game with no active Tight Ends and a short handed offense with horrendous Offensive Line. That game, Watson was instructed to run the ball and play as conservatively as possible because he didn't have much reps with the starters.

I'm not taking anything away from Mahomes, he's a one of a kind talent no debate about it. Yet I think it's kind of sad how everyone forgot about it or brushed off Deshauns rookie performance. Especially because Watson was on pace to do better that season than Mahomes did in this past one
@juliannoble64 жыл бұрын
Exactly! He would’ve won MVP as a rookie! And was on pace of throwing like 50+ touchdowns too. But everybody seems to have forgotten this year.

@traviscarlson80167 жыл бұрын
dude... the day he got injured I had just got out of school and I checked my youtube subscription box and saw this video and thought " huh, wonder why they're posting his highlights so early in the season" then I check the comments section and I wanted to cry bc Deshaun had brought so much hope to this Texans team and it was just taken from us way too soon. tbh kinda a shitty way to figure out that the best player on your hometown team is out for the season

I’m a bills fan who wanted him so bad. My friends said he is a clear bust. I watched him at Clemson. All I ever saw was a leader and a winner
@batwayne7086 жыл бұрын
Alot of people thought he would be a bust. People said he had a weak arm. People said his college success won't carry on to his NFL career. After he won the National Championship, it only took a week for him to rest to prepare him for the combine. Texan are smart to realize he may have had a "weak arm" at the time, but he improved it before the season began. He's a smart QB that always wants to improve. He's a dedicated hard worker. He's a class act off the field. One of many Houston sports great role models.

Pats fan here, and this dude was on pace to win MVP as a rookie. That Seattle game was by far the most exciting regular season game in the last 5 years. Hope he bounces back, because that offense is going to be nasty and fun to watch.

A lot of typical fans believe Watson is just another RGIII but their only similarities is that they are both black athletic QBs that torn their ACL in college and rookie season. But aside from that, they are completely different players. Robert Griffin III was a track star that had the elite speed and athleticism that made him so dangerous as a dual threat. Because of his speed, RGIII often looked to run first and it was tough for defenses to keep up with his speed. He also possessed a powerful cannon for an arm and made deep down field throws seemed effortless. RGIII was incredibly talented but his athleticism is what made him so special. Despite being an athletic QB with good speed, Deshaun Watson is not even close to the athlete that made RGIII so special. But Watson never relied as on his athleticism as much as RGIII had and despite being considered an athletic QB, Deshaun Watson has always been a pocket passer that can scrambled and run. Watson is a pass first QB, whereas RGIII is a run first QB. The biggest difference between these two is that RGIII doesn't really know what type of QB he wants to be. After his rookie season, he wanted to move away from play-action and become a pocket passer, which he is not. On the other hand, Watson knows who he is as a QB and is confident in his ability. Watson is also more comfortable as a pocket passer and his mobility in the pocket allows him more time to develop as a pocket passer. Watson's ACL injury during mid season will give him the time he need to recover and get ready for the next season. RGIII was injured in a playoff game and he didn't have much time to fully recover when he started week 1 in the next season. Also, RGIII's injury is much more serious because he tore his ACL & LCL. Overall, Both players are similar in many ways but also have many differences that sets them apart. Because of those differences, Watson is most likely would not end up like RGIII and will continue to succeed in the NFL when he returns.
