@@rutvik23 I would say it's more about the cultural experience which is made available to make your stay more memorable. More like traditional music, dance and food. It's a personal choice to skip if someone wants to but that shouldn't happen if they're misunderstanding it for something which it is not. Chris had a bias and he didn't want to spend any more. I do agree they should not call multiple times, but it is absolutely ok to call once to remind since it is too much to miss if someone just forgets about it. I have been working in the hotel industry for over 12 years. In my view, hospitality revolves around caring for guests, but at times, it can become overwhelming. This often stems from the management's training methods, where every action is strictly scripted, leading to a sense of annoyance and discomfort. I believe that providing service quietly and efficiently is more effective than an overly friendly approach, which can come across as insincere.

It's a translation issue. The sticker on the wall switch should have said "DO NOT TOUCH". That's what they meant by the sticker. The man who came in pointed at the switch and said "Do not disturb". He did not press it or test it. Do not disturb is the same as saying do not touch. Their body language looked to be "damn it, someone pressed the button AGAIN!"

If you go to any Leela Palace hotel across India, their service is a bit subservient almost to the tune of what royalty would expect. Some people, both Indians and travellers book them for this particular level of overt service, which can be a bit too much for others. If you book one of the non 'palace' brands of Leela hotels, you can get the typical Indian level of 5-star hospitality without being so 'pushy'. I don't think they are trying to upsell extras with these, they are selling mainly a truly 'royal' experience from the bygone times. Pity you missed the breakfast, that is also something really impressive.
