What the guy was telling you was perfect and getting the bus to pondicherry direct from madurai will only be available during night with advance booking but, the whole day one could get the bus to Villupuram as because all the buses running to Chennai must go through Villupuram only around 160 km before Chennai and from Villupuram every 5 minutes for almost 24 hours you could get the bus to pondicherry which about 40 km east of Villupuram The old man gave you the right information only💐

Wonderful video , Hope u noticed ,devi minakshi is to be worshipped first here ,though it is a temple mainly dedicated to lord shiva ,all pujas and honours are first done to minakshi devi , She is the queen of madurai, she has mastery over all 64 arts , she has two samprathaya ,one is Sri Vidya Lalitha devi and another one is Raja matangi , Her statue is made out of emerald stone , This is the temple where lord shiva played 64 divinely games , Every day she is worshipped in eight swarupam (8 para shakthi's form) which are considered to be secret can't be revealed publicly , This is the city where devi born and brought up as the princess , and faught with deva devas ,and won them, at last she married to lord Shiva who came to madurai in his soundara Rupam ,then they both ruled madurai and gave birth to lord Muruga who ruled madurai later , Alot and lot of secrets and histories are there for devi and temple ,one such is no one is allowed to see the abhisegam (bathing) done to devi since she is the queen of the city , Madurai itself is the Sri chakra , And lot more and more secrets and stories are behind the temple history ,no words are enough to describe , Whatever I described is even less than a fraction of percentage , And this madurai minakshi temple is one among the 3 devi temples in tamilnadu (other two are kanchi kamakshi ,tiruvanaika akiladeswari) ,ward off all our sins and dhosam within a moment we get the dharshan of devi❤️ Hope everyone visit devi and get her blessings

Madurai as beautiful as it sounds, it's a terrible city. Overcrowded, sewage and water supply issues, garbage dump in every corner, public transport is of my grandpa's era. And it's hurts to see Sri Meenakshi Temple, surrounded by Gaza (happened in last 40years).

When we went to Madurai last year, we had to keep or mobiles at a counter which charged Rs.5.Also one lady asked to show my wife's handbags and she took a bottle of Amritanjan which was there for her headache!. I had also a complaint letter to the Authorities.. In Bangkok (Thailand) No Buddhist temple has boards saying "Photography Prohibited" One can take as much one likes..Its called "Thoonga Nagaram" because the Town does'nt sleep at all..Madurai is also famous for Jasmine flowers.

I am a resident of Madurai. Explanations are good. Important/historical temples (Goddess Meenakshi, Lord Perumal, Lord Murugan, Mariamman) Gandhi Museum, beautiful palace built by Madurai ruled Naicker King, etc., etc. Handloom cloth , variety of eatables at cheap but best are available. Accommodation is also available.Many Indian Presidents, Prime Ministers, Governors, Central Cabinet Ministers, Judges, Many C.M.s and so many VIPs had visited Madurai. Come and enjoy the busy Madurai. Please don't forget to visit the nearby place Rameshwaram (3 to 4 hours journey) also.

For all North Indians planning Madurai.. Villupuram is part of larger Pondicherry zone only.. that comprises Pondi city/beaches Villupuram (Railway Station at main line), even Cuddalore etc. If Pondicherry is Delhi/ Mumbai... Villupuram and Pondi City are Hazrat Nizamuddin - Paschim Vihar and Dadar - Kalyan respectively. 🙏🏽
