In this video design a lure to print and cast in alumilite VAC - 50 mold making material. I decided to do this series "Design a Lure" as a sort of tutorial in Fusion 360 because I had a hard time learning the program environment when I first started.
If you have any suggestions or information for people to help them with design, including myself. Please post it in the comments!
In this episode I use the free form environment within Fusion 360 to make a simple swimbait that should work well for freshwater fishing. I usually use this type of bait for walleye but I think it would work well with smallmouth and largemouth bass as well. The free form tool is an interesting fast way to create symmetric designs if you're a visual person. You can always use different tools after you export the file into the modeling environment as well. At that point when you switch to the modeling environment you are starting with a completed body that you can edit. This tool is great for quick prototyping of easy models and I will definitely be using it more in the future.
This was basically my first attempt with a little bit of previous practice in free form, so I guarantee you can do this with no problem!
I am designing these lures to print on the Anet A8 printer well as the Creality CR-10 3d printer.
I will be finishing this project in future videos using alumilite vac-50 to create the mold and alumisol to inject soft plastic into the cavities after the PLA is removed.
Autodesk Fusion 360 is a great platform that allows for free licensing if you make under $100,000 a year from its use. This tutorial is ultra basic based on the complexity of the project there are many other videos on KZbin to explore the fusion 360 environment further. I will also make additional Fusion 360 videos in the future depending on what projects are going on.
Thanks for watching and remember to keep your amps up and your filament dry!
