I bought this kit before I saw the Jeep shifter boot fix. This kit blocks some air going through the tunnel, but not enough. It also lets heat and dirt come through the rubber flaps that go on each side of the tilt steering wheel mechanism. As far as comments about blocking air to engine - at last count this is a water cooled engine! If you could route cool clean air through the tunnel- you would have a cooler place to lean your right leg.

Terry, Thanks for this video. Like you and many others I have also tried several heat mitigation techniques on my Talon. One of the things that I am a bit concerned about is limiting air flow over the engine. If you follow that tunnel back it directs air over the engine. Blocking that flow off may cause some overheating issues with the engine. So, I will be curious as to how it all works out. I was just out riding on the 4th of July and purchased a variable speed 12-volt fan on Amazon for the passenger compartment. I directed the air flow help move air in the cabin. It made a huge improvement keeping me cooler. Keep up the great videos. I have added several of your recommended accessories to my Talon.

Thanks Chuck! I’ll monitor the engine temp. I’ll include that info when the review video is done.

Bought the kit. Getting started on installation. Hmmm....the rubber piece Honda installs ain't there. Wonder if the dealer took it off to install the Fuse Block or the Bus Bar or the S&B Particle Separator wiring. So I'll have this video up on my PC...right next to the Talon! Looking forward to doing the install!!

Commented earlier that this didn’t do much. With more time and thought - while this blocks some hot air from the front, it keeps the heat from the two coolant hoses (200 degrees-ish) in the console to freely radiate under the passenger seat and heat the console sides, (assuming you foamed the drink holder area). I put air conditioning tube insulation (what you see on AC pipe outside) over what I could reach from the top. Might be somewhat cooler. How about if you (1) put aluminum faced insulation on inside of tunnel, (2) wrapped radiator hoses with exhaust pipe wrap (or equal) where they go through the tunnel, and (3) put a hose/pipe from the front of the machine with outside air into the tunnel, sealing off other air going into tunnel? Maybe have to add a fan. I’m in Phoenix so having the heat for winter isn’t a factor. Any changes, additions, etc appreciated! I’m still trying to choose the materials.

No clue non that on Chris but I'd say it could be easily modded to work if it doesn't right out of the box.

So I know this is free heat mitigation in the summertime but does this help with letting cold air in during the winter time I have inferno heater and there's a huge draft around the driver's steering column

Another great video. Did it help with the heat coming in through the steering column area?

Thanks Darrell! Unfortunately work has been crazy and we have not had a chance to ride since I did the insulation. We have a trip coming up next weekend. I'll shoot a review video after that.

Terry, what is your final thought on the DEI kit?
@terryhatfieldmin
@terryhatfieldmin 2 жыл бұрын
I've ben quite impressed with it. It definitely reduces the heat transfer. The Talon doesn't heat soak like it did before installing the kit. Well worth the price in my book.

Hi Terry, I have a quick question about the large shield that the battery box mounting bolts go through....I'm assuming this piece isn't flexible, like the OE rubber, so my question is, if you want to take the piece loose at the top to get behind it, does that mean that the battery box has to come out to get it unclipped from the plastic hangers on the cowl cover? Or is the long piece separate and not attached to the frame like the OE Rubber piece? Thanks for any info you might provide.
@terryhatfieldmin
@terryhatfieldmin Жыл бұрын
The upper piece is flexible and separate so it comes out by itself.
